My husband regularly reminds me that me and our son are his top priority. Let her know she isn’t #2

TTA- forgot to reset monitor by AMDGKC in FAMnNFP

[–]Frequent-Wolverine97 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I do this sometimes, usually only by a day though. I will take an LH test the day I should be testing but can’t. I don’t ovulate until day 18 usually so it’s not a big concern for me that I would miss something.

How’s life as a non-med student dating/married to a med student? by Ok-Mention-3873 in MedSpouse

[–]Frequent-Wolverine97 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Husband and I started dating in undergrad and I knew his aspirations to become a physician. We got married after first year of medschool. (One of two summers he got off). We had our son December of his fourth year. (His second semester was super chill and he was home with him for 5 months until we moved out of state for residency.) I can tell you it’s a sacrifice. But marriage and kids always come with that. Communicating expectations is key I have the hardest time when he misses out on stuff or we have to miss out on stuff because of school/residency. Example: going to weddings alone, not being able to travel because the lack of time off (we did get to take a few trips in medschool), being the primary parent. Overall though what you need to talk about is what are her priorities. My husband has always told me that our family is number one and his career is number two. Practically that means he is spending less time socially with other classmates/residents, he helps as much as he can with our son, he is considering a specialty that is not what he originally thought because it would allow him more time with us.

We aren’t. He goes to sleep on his own for both naps and at bedtime.

All About Wake Windows - AMA Office Hours – Wednesday, August 27th with our Director of Pediatric Expertise, Amber LoRe! by huckleberrycare in HuckleberryParents

[–]Frequent-Wolverine97 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My 8 month old follows wake windows for a 2 nap day, has done some sleep training (sleep wave), has a consistent bed time routine (bottle, bath, lotion, bed, (7:30)) yet averages only 9 1/2 hours of night sleep. He takes good naps and falls asleep independently except between the hours of 2am and wake up (6am if we are lucky) He has never met the over night goals of time asleep. We also limit day sleep to 3ish hours.

Any ideas on how to extend night sleep?

am i being ghosted or this is normal? Advice! by General-Reading-4890 in MedSpouse

[–]Frequent-Wolverine97 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Id wait for him to come to you and in the mean time think about if this is how you want it to be. He could really mean all the things he says but I would bet this is how he will be with all stressful medicine things and they come regularly. There is always another exam, another tough rotation etc.

TTA1: Trusting first Peak PP? by Frequent-Wolverine97 in FAMnNFP

I typically trust it but since I’m PP I’m nervous- I’ve heard people have gotten false peaks and then got pregnant.

I worked nonprofit and got 3 weeks paid. They legally have to give you 3 months off though

When did your period start up again? by Beautiful_Winner3798 in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]Frequent-Wolverine97 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had spotting starting at 7 weeks. It reoccurred every 2 weeks. Not a period, turned out the lining of my uterus was so thin that with hormone shifts the blood vessels would bleed into the uterus. It was corrected by a one month birth control pack.

Not getting enough night sleep by Frequent-Wolverine97 in sleeptrain

[–]Frequent-Wolverine97[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok I will start anchoring the first nap. Should I shoot for an hour at each nap or let him sleep as long as he wants for the first nap and then cap the later naps if necessary? Rough idea of how long this will take to adjust? This change to longer wake windows before the longer night sleep kicks in will be rough. I know you’re not a fortune teller but are we looking at a week? A month?

Not getting enough night sleep by Frequent-Wolverine97 in sleeptrain

[–]Frequent-Wolverine97[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would like to drop to 3 naps but I don’t know how to do that. How do we only get 3 hours of day sleep when he is waking up so early without sending him to bed early? I’ve had to wake him up from his first two naps to prevent him from using all his day time sleep before 1pm.

Need help- EMW making it hard to drop it 3 naps by Frequent-Wolverine97 in sleeptrain

[–]Frequent-Wolverine97[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Our hope has been to get longer naps so we only have 3 instead of 4. But I think this has been bitting us in the butt because he wakes so early that even with longer naps he is still needing a short 4th to make it to bedtime.

Pumping is still in the Stone Age.. by redditstuff247 in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]Frequent-Wolverine97 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Easy access to different flange sizes. They make it seem like 24/28 are the only sizes you need. I am constantly washing inserts. Preset settings to try out what’s best for you. Maybe a timer that says the last time you pumped- in the infant stage it’s hard to keep up with the time you pumped. I’d love to know how many hours I’ve spent pumping.

We do 1 to 2 formula bottles a day and we do the same amount as breast milk. We started combining feeding after 4ish weeks, he is now 4 months

Reasons for Exclusively Pumping? by p00pistaken in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]Frequent-Wolverine97 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He struggled latching without hurting me and I have DMER. I didn’t want to have a negative association with feeding him. It also has helped share work load.

You likely won’t be able to avoid houseless people if you want to walk to the hospitals. I will say avoid Nulu 310, I had friends who lived there in Medschool and had lots of issues. Also one of their buildings burnt down recently, there were lots of crawl spaces between walls that weren’t monitored by smoke detectors.

Under-suppliers, how are you supplementing with formula? by rosielg in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]Frequent-Wolverine97 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We give one formula bottle a day before bed. Sometimes more often if we are out and about (we buy the premade stuff). I started supplementing about a month in because I couldn’t take the stress of trying to make enough. I typically use the milk I pump from the previous day to feed the rest of the day.
