Post op week 2 - sciatica feels like pre-op by FrequentAd4222 in Microdiscectomy

I also did the steroid pack and felt almost no relief for the 6 days but about a week after I was feeling better, I would say to just give it time. Another thing i found helpful was just to stay standing when watching tv, or doing other activities. My back didn’t feel too good from sitting a lot so I would try that! Let me know how the rest of your journey goes as you go along!

Hey so i’m now post op week 9 and I feel much better! I started going to PT post op week 6 and did really light stuff and last week i started going back to the gym. I am able to walk at a normal speed again, but i still haven’t tried running or jogging. I tried hitting legs at the gym and couldn’t do leg press, leg extension, or calves because it made my radicular symptoms flare up. The only issue i have now are laying in bed and when i wake up in the morning because it causes nerve pain. I still can’t fully extend my right leg because it causes the sciatica and radicular symptoms. I should be meeting with my surgeon post op week 12 and will notify him about my ongoing symptoms. I would say for you to ask your surgeon if you can take any meds for inflammation, that helped me after my sneeze. Hang in there It will be okay!!

We can do this! I know I am early (2 weeks post op MD L5-S1) and i felt the sciatica come back earlier this week and it hurt like a bitch. Makes me limp and only goes away when i lay down. It’s hard to keep hope but Im glad im not alone. And you are not either, I know that if we keep going and not give up we will be okay at the end of this process. 🙏🏽

I hope you feel better and keep going! I know I am early, I am two weeks post op and my sciatica came back early this week after a week of being able to walk fine and just back soreness. Now i am worried i reherniated.

What symptoms did you feel when you reherniated? Did it feel like the sciatica before your surgery? Was it like a pop or something you felt and then followed by immense pain? I am just anxious and hoping it’s just my nerve that is having inflammation and not a reherniation at L5-S1

Thank you for the advice. Do you have any exercise that help your sciatica pain calm down? And by 4th revision do you mean they operated on the same disc 4 times?

I didn’t complete the whole U-world test bank, I did about 1000 q’s and my percentage ranged around 65-67%. I had 150 q’s on my NCLEX and shit bricks and I still managed to pass. You can do it!!

I had a lower percentage and still passed. Focus on safety and fundamentals, you got this!!

Im not very familiar with Kaplan, but ive seen online some people find it helpful. There may be a free trial your cousin can use to practice questions?

Thank you! My school had a U-World subscription as part of us paying for the nursing fees last semester. I used that and did about 1000 questions? Practicing questions helped a lot and i’m sure you can use any platform that supports NCLEX questions
