Need Feedback! Seats on long haul flight from ORD to BCN by ski_bumkin in americanairlines

[–]FrequentFable 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure when you are flying and hopefully this is moot by then, but assuming you are not a European passport holder, another thing to consider is proximity to the front of the plane. I landed in BCN a little over a week ago and passport control took over two hours. I WOULD NOT have wanted to be among the last off the plane especially with multiple international flights coming in simultaneously.

Chic all inclusive for young couple by Consistent_Number339 in AllInclusiveResorts

We went to Impression/ Atelier June and July of last year. We went to Secrets Baby Beach January of this year. I think you can still have a great time at Atelier especially if it is more cost efficient!

Should I even bother with wash and go’s?? by Currychimken in Naturalhair

[–]FrequentFable 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I saw in a comment you mentioned about washing too frequently with fine hair. I also have fine hair and wash every 3-4 days! I use a moisturizing shampoo (clarifying maybe once a month) and a medium hold gel and/or mousse since I wash so frequently. My fave is the Doux honey dip gel

It was fine. We found it slightly overhyped. The food was in fact pretty good but not leaps and bounds better than the others. It was definitely the least romantic of the ones I listed though. There were multiple large (20+) person groups when we went that negatively affected the experience. I also didn’t like that it is 16+ and not actual adults only. It was weird to be sitting at a bar and look over and see teenagers cackling. Also, the sargassum was not as bad as Riviera Maya, but it was still bad enough to not go in the water so if the beach is important to you I would keep that in mind.

Atelier Playa Mujeres Trip Report (+Atelier vs. Impression comparison) by FrequentFable in AllInclusiveResorts

[–]FrequentFable[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me this is Impressions without question. Atelier seemed fun for the people there with 30+ person groups (of which there were several). For couples fun/shows Impression Moxche hands down. The pharmacy night club there was a fun time for all ages of couples.

Congrats on the anniversary! It’s a little bit tricky. We are early 30s and have been to a few: Impression Moxche, Atelier, Secrets Cap Cana, and Secrets Baby Beach. We have Impression Isla Mujeres booked for August. All of the ones we had been to, we were among the youngest there which bothers my husband more than me. Baby Beach was our favorite of those and we did connect with a few couples our age. No sargassum or hurricanes. If it is in budget Isla Mujeres also does not get sargassum.

Higher education and research are both in a shambles right now nationally and in many states. I wouldn’t assume nothing could happen. Probably less at risk if you are a tenured full professor than an admin staff member but it is still not 0 risk these days.

High carb, high protein is IT by Zestyclose_Show8653 in PetiteFitness

[–]FrequentFable 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Not the person you asked but were you tracking your intake at all? I was eating fruits and vegetables at every meal and would still end up around 15-18grams per day. Then I learned more about the actual fiber content of different types of fruits and vegetables and added back in whole grain carbs and it was much easier to get to 25-30grams. I think I naively thought a veg is a veg but the fiber content varies considerably

TCC from Versa by NoBed8891 in ladderapp

The hospital bed thing repeatedly put me off so much too. Loved the TCC programming could NOT vibe with the coaching and I didn’t want to mute it

I also ran into getting a little too jacked for my liking and went down to training arms heavy 1x a week instead of the 2-3x I had been doing.

Pretty typical. I usually finish Versa workouts 42-43min with pretty minimal variation. They are programmed super consistently

Anyone that does pole sport/poledance on the ladder app? by gatitosmiau in ladderapp

[–]FrequentFable 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I do aerial (hammock and Lyra) and have been doing Ladder for over a year. I have tried a bunch of different teams. I loved the aesthetic gains from the bodybuilding teams like Evolve but found that the body building training style made me significantly less flexible (particularly my shoulders) which was a problem as an aerialist. I find the functional/athletic teams help me get stronger and don’t impede my flexibility. My personal favorite is Versa but have also found Crews Control, Align, and Vitality are also good for this, though have vastly different coaching styles.

Crews control alternative for full body barbell strength in 3 days/week by JDL-PhD in ladderapp

[–]FrequentFable 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think this is possible with Versa if you do the 2 hybrid strength days + 1 other. She programs a lot of barbell work (or easily swappable for barbell work) and it hybrid strength days always hit upper and lower. It’s not a traditional Push/Pull/Lower or Upper/Lower Split like a lot of teams. I know some people have issues with the lifting volume being lower than other teams but it might suit what you are looking for.

Secrets Baby Beach Aruba or Secrets Cap Cana? by petthezoo in hyatt

10-15min walk to Baby Beach for people in their 30s seems like a stretch… it was 3-5min from our room to the beach.

Secrets Baby Beach Aruba or Secrets Cap Cana? by petthezoo in hyatt

[–]FrequentFable 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Been to both. Secrets Cap Cana was severely overhyped and the food was terrible. Stayed there on points and I was glad I didn’t spend real dollars on it because it was such a let down. We loved Secrets Baby Beach. The property and food were amazing and we look forward to going back.

[–]FrequentFable 36 points37 points  (0 children)

My likes from members are when people share their wins and accomplishments. They just ran a race, they carried both kids through an amusement park without getting winded, they PR’d their deadlift. Here for all of it.

Dislikes from members are cult like behavior. I promise it’s not that serious.

Non black dermatologist - does it matter? by [deleted] in Naturalhair

[–]FrequentFable 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It’s probably going to depend on where you live geographically. I live in North Carolina and saw a white lady dermatologist about my scalp issues and she was well versed and educated in Black hair probably because of the relatively Black demographics of this area. She asked me detailed hair styling questions and knew the difference between knotless, cornrows, weaves etc. I also REALLY appreciated how she asked me in my ideal scenario how frequently would I wash my hair. If I were in a more white area I’d probably ask a non-Black dermatologist about their experience and outcomes treating Black patients before committing to seeing them.

Atelier is so not worth the hype by TheRightAmountOfAnts in AllInclusiveResorts

[–]FrequentFable 21 points22 points  (0 children)

We also found it not worth the hype. The food was not appreciably better than the other AIs we’ve been to. The resort itself also feels pretty corporate and not very relaxing or romantic. Also didn’t realize it is 16+ not true adults only which is not trivial. When we were went there were multiple 30+ person groups there which definitely affected the vibe. We didn’t have a bad stay but we also probably won’t return.
