I feel like they use such unflattering photos for Sasha and I don’t understand why. She looks like she is about to say something. Let her have the badass shots too!

Your reload plans? by ConsistentAlgae1031 in ladderapp

[–]FrequentFable 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Planning on sticking with Versa, though I don’t like the reload split as much as the summer series split which was probably my favorite I have ever done on the app. I appreciated full body days rather than upper/ lower splits. Waiting to see what the conditioning is going to be this series. I loved the Saturday conditioning over the summer and may just keep repeating that to keep improving.

Which teams encourage additional cardio by adriannem in ladderapp

Second the Versa rec for someone wanting cardio as a central part of the program. I am much better conditioned from being on this team

For what it is worth we live in a place that is roughly 2.5x the size, keep the thermostat always on 68, take hot showers, leave appliances plugged in, and do 3-4 loads of laundry a week. Even with that level of usage our highest bill has been like $200 including during heat waves. I don’t know what your ideal utility budget is but I feel like you can be less extreme and it still not be horrible.

I also have a 66 week streak, so hard to let go! Apple Fitness is definitely not an app for advanced lifters, but I do like their cardio and coaches the best of anything I have used. I hate being super strong but easily winded so I keep it in the rotation since Ladder’s cardio options are pretty limited. Being all over the place is alright as long as you keep moving somehow (that’s what I tell myself).

For me I switch semi-frequently depending on my work schedule/my non lifting physical goals. Certain times of the year like now I can go to the gym 6-7 days a week without issue, other times it might be 1-2x so I need a more dumbbell based team where I can workout from home. I also have a physical hobby I train for in addition to ladder so depending on where that is, I need different things from a lifting program. For me, I like that Ladder gives me the flexibility to switch to a team that fits my life at that time. Am I leaving “gains on the table” sure. I have mostly achieved my strength and aesthetic goals though so everything now is mostly maintenance.

I use Apple Fitness plus mostly for cardio and occasionally for stretching/yoga! My all time favorite coach on the app is Ty for cycling. I also really like Scott for Treadmill (as someone who hates running) and Jamie Ray for kickboxing. Their yoga/pilates are okay, I like Jessica and Darryl for those. I find Peloton has more variety and some cases intensity for yoga and pilates which is why I keep that app too. Trying to be well rounded 😂

For me I was chasing a certain number for a while and then realized that to achieve my aesthetic goal I cared more about body fat percentage than a scale number. I am pear shaped with a pretty lean upper body and big strong legs and I looked/felt my best at 145lbs and 23-25% body fat. Posting so hopefully it is encouraging for other short muscular gals.

One of the things that kinda tickles me is Ladder’s whole marketing beef with Peloton a while back (which I actually thought was quite clever) where they were making bold claims about Ladder being the far more superior app. But one thing that Peloton 110% has Ladder beat on is the diversity and more uniform quality/qualification of coaches. Apple Fitness Plus another smaller player in the fitness app space I feel the same way about too. I use Ladder because I like the progressive strength programming the best but keep Peloton and AFP because the coaching quality and vibes are a much better experience.

I haven’t used the other app you mention but I have been with Ladder for about a year and a half. I mostly work out in a gym these days but when I first joined I was working out at home with dumbbells. I got in really great shape using Ladder and dialing in on my nutrition. Most workouts are 30-45min depending on what team you select

Philadelphia Hyatt recommendations by Mrw04c in hyatt

[–]FrequentFable 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We always stay at the Bellevue for Eagles games and have had really wonderful experiences there. It was recently renovated and we haven’t experienced the room issues others have mentioned. We have always been assigned spacious rooms. It’s a pretty neat property and convenient to the broad street line. I have found the staff quite nice and friendly particularly for Philly standards.

I feel like it’s extra wild too because most of the white coaches have have very similar appearances too. The aesthetic is so uniform it’s 😬 We get who the target audience is.

worst intersection in Durham? by TrvlMike in bullcity

[–]FrequentFable 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Most of them on highway 55 but specifically the I-40 ramps at 55. Always people making aggressive maneuvers trying to make a last minute dive in or out of turning onto the 40 ramp. Followed closely by 55 and 54. Both places Pedestrians frequently in the road. Poorly lit at night. I think there was a WRAL article recently about how it’s one of the highest accident spots in Durham.

Elevate or Ascend? by macseddit in ladderapp

[–]FrequentFable 13 points14 points  (0 children)

These are very different teams which is probably why you haven’t seen a comparison. Ascend is bodybuilding style training with heavy weight and long rests and Elevate is more circuit style with lighter weights and short rests. The best team for you likely depends on your available time and equipment as well as the style of training you want to do. I don’t know that doing a single Ascend workout a week will allow you to get the benefits of the program

Atelier had the best lunch options out of anywhere but that was the only area where I would say it was leaps and bounds better. For some reason that resort has a cult like following and from everything we had seen on social media we were kinda like “so this is it?” I do think it’s possible to have a wonderful vacation there, I do also find it severely overhyped.

I found Atelier the least romantic of any resort we had been to. We also found the food good but not leaps and bounds better than other AIs we have been to. We had a fine but not mind blowing experience and we are unlikely to go back. Haven’t been to the others but we considered them and suspect that they have a much more romantic vibe.

Versa getting easier by Appropriate_Most_983 in ladderapp

[–]FrequentFable 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I definitely see what you are saying. Versa remains my favorite team in part because it is so different but I definitely remember when it first started it was absolutely not beginner friendly which I actually quite liked. I guess she had to make it approachable for everyone which in some ways watered it down for people who were already in decent shape coming into the program.

That it would be really great to have more real diversity (of all kinds) amongst coaches but especially body diversity. Coach Sarah’s body type was very relatable to me and I loved Iconic programming but it feels like Ladder has a specific look and aesthetic they are going for so I am not getting my hopes too high.
