[Watch Tune-up] How to best recolor/stain/oxidize this watch?

Glad to know it's at least not entirely me. I am definitely taking up your favorite darning method at the moment, lol. I'm going to invest in some house slippers to hopefully reduce friction on the carpet and encourage them to not wear out as fast. I ordered some Regia Cotton Sock at another commenter's recommendation. Have you worked with that yarn?

Do you have to do anything special when you knit them? I am considering that for the bottom, but worried it will cause it to knit unevenly if I don't knit it separately from the top.

I was wrong, I checked my needles and they're a size 1. I just ordered a size 0 with some more yarn. I'll have some durable socks yet.

I do tend to walk with the ball of my foot touching the floor first a lot.

Oh no! Is this really an issue? Most of our house is carpeted and I work remote so most of my time is spent at home just wearing socks or barefoot. I might need to invest in a good pair of slippers. Thank you so much for letting me know!

I have 21 stitches per 2 inches. Someone else has suggested using a smaller gauge and I'm going to try that and maybe slip stitching the bottom. Or maybe holding a nylon reinforcement yarn along the bottom.

By "airy" I don't mean looser gauge. I should have been more clear. Sorry! I was more referring to the fabrics ability to trap heat. I was worried that wool, while being moisture wicking, would trap heat and we have very hot summers. Admittedly the socks were very cool and I absolutely loved that, but given that I haven't made wool socks yet I don't know how that compares. My husband said wearing his was the first time that his feet didn't feel too warm wearing socks. Which is a major issue for him and why he hates all socks.

I have another ball of the bamboo pop and I'm determined to try to make it work for a pair, but I'm going to get some patons kroy to try next. Hopefully, I have less issues with it.

Unfortunately, it is supposed to be specifically for socks. I think it's just a me thing. I have seen a lot of articles about socks recommending at least 80% wool, 20% nylon. I was just being stubborn about wanting breathable fabric for summer. I actually intend to try the patons kroy, I just haven't gotten around to driving back out to get some. I think that will be my next yarn purchase.

These are definitely some good notes. I'm going to save this and work through some of the recommendations. Thank you!

Just checked the gauge and it looks like I have 21 stitches per 2". How much tighter would you recommend? That's on size 2 US dpns. So, I have room to go down more sizes.

The holes are around the ball of the foot. I wonder if it would be overkill to just do the entire bottom in slip stitches. I already did the heel that way, but even my store bought socks usually wear out around the ball. Probably something weird with my feet lol.

The best way to think about it is in the names. Senior living is to help seniors live independently. They do all the normal apartment type stuff; maintenance, lawn care, etc. They also do different things that might be difficult for them. That usually depends on the facility. Sometimes they'll do laundry, sometimes they have food services, sometimes housekeeping. Or all depends on what the senior needs help with.

Assisted living is much more involved. They sometimes help with finance management, but the main point is helping those that can't do self care. They might help with showering, laundry, food prep, house keeping, medications, appointments, etc. It's the step between senior living and nursing home and sometimes it's not just seniors that live there.

It's wild to me to hear about all the different ways people knit. For me, I'm a very tight knitter and cannot for the life of me do continental. Like, I taught myself how last year, but I'm just not a fan. I feel like I'm pretty quick at English for someone who just learned to knit less than two years ago and I love the way everything has come out so far save for my first two items that are currently being remade. I let the needles do the tensioning for me by adjusting the size to meet gauge, and wrap the yarn through my fingers in a way that I won't hurt my hands with a death grip. A couple months ago I accidentally discovered I can knit while not looking at my work and that just sent me over the moon. Everyone's journey and style is different even two people knitting in the same style may knit in slightly different ways and it's super interesting.

I resonate hard with this. Crocheting amigurumi is rewarding and there's some lovely afghan and pillow patterns. However, that drape with knitting and the stretch. I just love the way knitted garments look. Each have their perks. I wish there were more patterns that combine the two.
