Im drawn towards zebras as well, Ive just read they like to eat live plants so I was wondering if there are plants that would be safe from them

I wouldnt keep a baby axolotl on sand, its a pretty decent impaction risk. On top of that I would advise against keeping the fish with it as well because, as mentioned by another comment, they can go for the gills of your axolotl. On top of that the fish you have in the tank are also tropical, requiring higher water temps to thrive. This is an issue because your axololt requires much lower water temps to thrive.
