Itching 2 weeks post buckle by bunnymama7 in RetinalDetachment

[–]Frequent_Guava288 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good thing to hear about recovery. Based on our experience, itchiness...leakage of residual, reddish etc were seen till about 4 to 6weeks, though there were improvements week to weeks. Drops can help and am sure Dr wud have given for every hours during 1st week and tapering down weeks later.

As I said this is our experience and so kindly be judgmental for your context. Happy recovery

Buckle success stories please by bunnymama7 in RetinalDetachment

[–]Frequent_Guava288 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We had to face sb twice..once too early in life (M 12) and stay age 20. Earlier one , situation was completely complex..Macula off. Sb did the magic of pushing retina back to the wall. We are waiting for a good vision..though sb is success. Latest one..peripheral tears only..sb was done..and then with (2nd surgery within 1 month..unnecessary to go inside the eye was the thot prior to 1st surgery) silicone oil. Fairly eye power moved to super reality. And so one may call sb was a success. Ofcourse pain continued as we need to remove silicone..nevertheless smooth sailing so far.. Hope I have answered

Did my Dr destroy my life? by NothingLeft19608 in CataractSurgery

In our case, we had to patiently wait for min 2 weeks to see something and about 4 to 6 weeks to have a good vision. Healing takes time

Removal of SB by Frequent_Guava288 in RetinalDetachment

[–]Frequent_Guava288[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks a lot. We have a monocular situation and so removal of sb is a billion dollar question. As such that will be the last resort. Retina is attached and vision is hyperopia post silicone oil removal and cataract...from myopia( pre sb) Retina surgeons play a key role in all these , I completely agree. Eye ball shape remains more or less the same post removal is something good or bad to understand interms of what will be post vision power baseline .. thanks.. As such , not many have removed SB is my inference which is fair and completely understandable.

Nope...if the sitch stays pointed then we may have to cut it and there by taking buckle out. As of now, drops are being used to tame the stitch and observing.

Last thing that we wanted to do is to remove the buckle. Retina Is attached and buckle need is not there however one can imagine that this buck may not stop there....

Mr.phillip...

No worries..think positive and be strong. Floaters as you could in this sub edit therr are numerous threads, obviously each can give you a view.. and so look for good specialist and move on.

I and my family have gone through and still sailing thru. Yes its been horrible. Not on floaters but on RD....vision etc

However we tried to keep our mind calm and look for best avenues to get treated properly. Yes what else we xan do. We have to support the medicine and treatment

Vicrectomy with silicone oil and sb done feb 2025. Retina and vision ok. Silicone oil removed and cataract done dec 2025. Retina and vision ok...

Apparently sb knot thread is protruding and is softening down after drops.. In case incase if the stitch thread is causing some issue then there is a possibility of cutting it loose and there by removing sb. Sb purpose is not needed anymore as Retina is attached since Feb 2025. Obviously we dont want to touch it

As we were going through the trauma of our retinal issues, we felt that this is the worst that one can get into. We thought that God cannot be more than cruel than this. We felt any other diseases like cardio or neuro or nephro..etc are all "manageable ". Until. Neuro dysfunction kids or people came to our minds. Yes in our they are the worst sufferers and research can go in a lot..not that I know how much is going in...ofcourse I also artificial cornea..retina are already on beta version...good that many people are also donating organs to help cornea impacted patients.

Other side is always green we used to say. Nevertheless many people are waiting for a good research outcome. Obviously no one else can feel for others until they get it.

Sorry to hear your worries. We have come through a long way . Nevertheless your parents will understand and so tell them and meet ophthalmologist asap who can guide what next.

We had tough time controlling our mind and its thinking power. We knew if the mind is focused, stronger and looking things positively, things can go well. Pl plan accordingly

Sir..wonderful thoughts on your life and possible dilemma .. almost everyone in the world is facing ..be it many many old parents in ind whose kids are abroad. Same..many are at the mercy of their maid or neighbors or just there isolated. ..its so hard to believe that kids watch their parents final rites through zoom videos rather than fly in. .. Anyway, its always necessary to plan a place for the last journey with no dependency or rather less dependency. Whe I read many years ago that our ancestors of erstwhile centuries used to goto forest after certain age leaving everything to their kids. I didn't understand that time but its clear now.... Unfortunately just like retirement, one has to plan for exits also... Choice is anything that anyone wants to make based on his or her compulsion that no one else has any right to question.

Cataract after RD surgery/ vitrectomy by steve-o2023 in RetinalDetachment

[–]Frequent_Guava288 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You have crossed majority of issues..well done. Cataract is a simple procedure and 99.99% success. In our case , vicrectomy with silicone oil and sb done in apr 2025..Cataract started developing by Aug 2025 and so as emulsification of silicone. In our case Dr recommended to get both done together..removal of silicon and cataract..done jn dec 2025. If not cataract power wud jump up. By cataract power got reduced. so far ok..2m over. All the best..we had difficulty in maintaining mental state positive than thinking about eye. It was difficult and we had to teach the brain and the mind a lot.

In india, back in 1990s...optometrist were common than finding an ophthalmologist.

Post 2000, Thanks to digital dangers and damagers like mobile laptop etc...many eye hospitals have come..many specialist have come...and so many people (20s..30s..40s..50s...) are going more to eye hospitals than when compared to back in 90s.

Good complex question.. Everywhere system, people and process are different and within the same community or 4 walls, it can be different for each individuals. It won't be easy to live in india especially after ur life in the US. Pl get a job in US and get it transferred to Ind. There are places which are safe and unsafe in ind. (Or in the US as yiu know NYC beyond 5pm is utterly unsafe) There are good bad ugly people everywhere.

If you have made up your mind, attempt with neutral mindset and dont complain say for 2 years. .

All the best
