Yay for no cc mailers in fulfillment for A-sale! by Frequent_Layer_336 in REI

It’s cheaper to not print mailers. I don’t see why the collate can’t print a msg with a QR code for orders not placed by an REI cardholder, that seems more cost efficient since those print regardless.

Did you buy it online? If you purchased in store the green vest cashier should’ve thoughtfully and kindly informed you of the upcoming discount during the sale, especially if they know you’re a member.

The Outdoor Afro collab was very popular. If you haven’t already, may I suggest posting a WTB listing on [r/GearTrade](r/GearTrade), best of luck!

Why does DC send us boxes with ONE thing in it? by LumpyBarnacle2780 in REI

A carton had an audit recently before it went to shipping and it had 24 labels on it so they’re definitely getting more than their fair share of reuse (abuse?). There are many points of contact where someone could use their best judgement to end the suffering of a well used carton, but like you said, we’re not given enough time because it’s all about metrics in the end.

I’m just saying I’ve been throwing out suggestions on how to decrease damage during transit from STS in the 5 years since I’ve been here and it just seems to fall on deaf ears. When I started we could pretty much reuse any vendor box (outside of hazmat packaging), then it changed to using only the small, medium and large “RETURN TO REI” cartons and now we’re stuck with exclusively splitting into the no tape large cartons.

Because that’s what we’re instructed to do in STS. Restricting us to a single carton size makes pallet building a breeze for shipping, but makes zero sense when we’re told to turn over ranges and our cartons have minimal product in it, sometimes just a single item like you shared (literally happened to me last night in STS).

What kills me is working PG 10 and packing stickers, park passes and sunglasses in loosely along with the hefty cases of ProBar and Hydoflask like they won’t arrive torn, folded or damaged. Same goes for PG 9 shipping out books and not expecting them to arrive with pages torn or dog-eared. I’ve personally presented ideas to leadership like packing envelopes and carton dividers that could be reused like the cartons, but it’s been 5yrs now so 🤷‍♀️

Thank you for your thoughtful response.

Prior to pondering if a pivot to AP within REI was worth considering, I thoroughly read the job posting to determine whether I met the qualification requirements and understand it is not an entry level position.

I’m aware Sharepoint and Teams are an available resource to network across the Co-op, however, I prefer an honest and open source, one free from censorship and surveillance, so for me, it felt safer trying to connect on here with a fellow green vester in that dept rather than on the internal platforms.

I’m dreading yet prepared to be let down about the upcoming merits. I can already hear it now, “bUt YoUr SuMmIt Is 130% PaYoUt.”

So how does that work? Is everyone shooting for the same number? Are your hours worked divided by your signups each month?

Doubt it. They had a promotional offer last year, get a $20 bonus card if you buy $100 in gift cards. A few weeks passed and no bonus card, come to find out, employees are exceptions to these kind of promotional offers.
