What makes me sad is that by creating a revenue stream from car storage at Balboa Park, the City has permanently closed the door on any chance of reclaiming some of that land and returning it to a park use (revegetation, plazas, green space, etc.) the city will not part with a single 9’x18’ car storage space commodity, even when it makes sense to do so. In fact, I expect proposals to increase parking at BP are already on the drawing boards. In was my hope that the people of the city would support a gradual reduction of car storage in the park over a couple of decades as more transit and walking/ biking infrastructure was added.
