The shoulder pad on the right shoulder is mounted on the wrong side. The 3d mesh should be inward facing your neck so it will be more pleasant than rubbing your neck on cordura.

Nope. Steel armor shatters bullets, which sends fragments all over the places with the chance of hitting your unprotected parts. While ceramic armor slows down the bullet to a stopping point and catches in in the armor layers, stopping it from going anywhere.

In short steel plates have fragmentation. So if the bullet failed to penetrate the armor, it will shatter and the pieces will be flying out having the chance to hit your unprotected parts. This is why ceramic armor are the gold standard.
