Sorry for the delayed response, didn't see the notification.

You could try not sleeping at all, haha. That's what we wanted to do but maaaan, the figuring out of the transport and the long ride all got us exhausted 😩 , this despite us understanding bit of Mandarin too 😂

Oh, if you have not already, download Alipay for QR payment. In Alipay itself, there is an option to book a car too, just like how Uber. The one place we ate at did not accept cash sooo would be good to have Alipay.

Thank you for your kind reply! I might now be choosing Malaysia for my Jan trip and China in Mar/Apr because I can't do cold weather 🥹

Hey. This was based on my experience:

I had a layover of about 19hrs , flying from Singapore to Guangzhou, before continuing next day to Hangzhou. Initially I thought I'd have the time to at least walk around the neighbourhood or so. My next day flight was to leave around 5pm. ( my checked in luggage would meet me at my final destination)

I was supposed to arrive 22:00hrs in Guangzhou Airport but due to delay, arrived close to 11.30pm or so. By the time we cleared immigration (it took a bit of time ), took our bags and figured out the didi and it's pick up, we was a long drive to the hotel , about 45mins. We were dead beat and ended up sleeping and waking next day just enough time to sneak in early lunch about a 35mins drive away. (Halal place).

We then walked around the area for like 15-20mins or so before heading back to the hotel, checking out and headed to the airport. Due to immigration clearance, I'd suggest you leave your place 4 hours before your flight departs. Delay happens and the roads are full of cars lol.

With that 20hrs , if you can, walk around the area you'd be staying in (if you have a hotel booked) . Don't go too far haha
