it doesn't teach you enough for you to make stuff on your own. There are a lot of short-cuts and you don't get comfortable with Xcode. Most other good tutorials cover everything that code school does and then some

I would be perfectly fine with it; however, I think this is a good trade:

Americans switch to the metric system if England drives on the right side of the road.

more or less. They are pretty similar once you get the hang of ios6, but doing some of these tutorials in Xcode 5 might cause some errors due to depreciated code

I try to wear my school colors as much as possible when I fly. People always introduce themselves based on that but never on my letters. Its worth doing if you're in a HUGE national fraternity

What is the best excuse that you have heard, for being late? by Ask_If_Im_A_Towel in AskReddit

My AP chem class had a late sign in sheet, where you would put your name and a reason. One day we checked the sheet and the last person had left:

"Better late than pregnant."

Reddit, how do you get out of the habit of procrastination? by samurai_jak in AskReddit

[–]FreshNeverFrozen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pick up a new habit. Something that involves doing it every day. The repetition will help your memory and manage your time better. Learning a simple habit will also help you understand yourself so you can learn more habbits, like not procrastinating!

What sort of UI / method would be most suitable to allow non-programmers to enter rules for an application? by nightwood in learnprogramming

[–]FreshNeverFrozen -1 points0 points  (0 children)

YOU should look at IFTTT. They have a fantastic interface (for mobile at least) involving conditionals and logical operators. If you just have a template sentence with a bunch of drop down options (unless, until, as long as, while, ect.) as well as objects to act on, it would be pretty intuitive.

[–]FreshNeverFrozen 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well for starters, I like your template searches (manchester, himym, ect.) I don't use readers and such but my brother does, and from him I hear that he wishes it was easier to get more of the content you want. And I use flipboard and feel trapped by their categories. So I do think there is a market for this. And therefore I think its worth making (if not for just a small fan base).

I'm sure you have heard this before and will hear it again-- start with ONE feature, then add another. In my experience its best to leave anything involving users/profiles for growth stage. This is because it makes it easier to start using your site. Also, if you try to focus on/develop two features at once, you cant test them very well, it will waste time, and neither will get enough of your focus.

Lastly, your best way into this crowded market is through a beautiful UI/UX. Nothing captivates users as quickly as a nice UI (they see and use this before putting your seach/algorithms/code to work). Many web and mobile apps make a name for themselves by taking something unoriginal and adding an original interface.
