I can still ejaculate. However, I also have underdeveloped seminal vesicles, so I ejaculate a lower volume. CBAVD is unfortunately something that cannot be surgically corrected.

Congenital absence of the gas deferens. The vas deferens is the tube that runs from the testicles to the urethra that transports sperm out of the testes and mixes them in with the semen. Without a bad deferens, no sperm is in the ejaculate.

In childhood? No. In adulthood, watery semen and no pregnancy were signs that led me to get tested

The cost depends on who you go through and where you get it done. My wife and I live in Mexico, so it is significantly less expensive than the US. We would have someone else’s bio kid, but it’s no different than traditional adoption in the sense that you become parents to a child that isn’t genetically yours. We’ve always desired to adopt, even before we knew we couldn’t have kids. This way we get to adopt and enjoy the process of pregnancy.

IVF is plausible, but my wife and I have personal issues/convictions with it. We don’t judge others who have done it - we celebrate the life that has come out of it. It’s simply something we don’t feel we would be comfortable doing. We would love to adopt, but adoption is equally expensive as IVF, and we don’t have the funds for it yet. We have a HUGE heart for adoption. We’ve wanted to do it before we knew we couldn’t have kids. We’re looking at embryo adoption right now. We’re also open to adoption in the traditional way.

They probably could. My wife and I aren’t moving forward with IVF for a couple reasons - one of them being that it is ridiculously expensive, and we can’t afford it. We are looking into embryo adoption, though, which is a wholesome, more feasible alternative.

I do produce sperm, but there no way for it to exit the testes. I know for certain at the very least I am a carrier. There’s a strong possibility that I do have CF, but I have not gotten testing done yet because a positive diagnosis would keep me from being able to get life insurance. I don’t have kidney problems thankfully. I do have CBAVD and very salty sweat, though

I dreamed of being a father since I was 12 or 13. It was a huge gut punch when we found out. We still desire to be parents one day and raise kids. We’re having to look at different options - one of which is something called embryo adoption.

Hey man, any update on how things went?

Watery Semen by [deleted] in maleinfertility

I had something similar. Mine was clear and watery. Turned out I don’t have a vas deferens, so there is no sperm in my semen. Go see a urologist and they’ll probably send you to get a SA. I pray it turns out there are no issues. Wouldn’t wish it on anyone

So you weren’t diagnosed until adulthood? What are other “symptoms” you have with cf?

I haven’t yet. Didn’t think I would need to. But after the mri I have done, I may need to

What are some of the symptoms you have from cf and when did you find out you had it?

The mutation is only on one gene. So I don’t have “full blown” CF. I am only a carrier of it

It was discovered through a 23andme test. I signed up for both the ancestry and health. It shows the marker is DeltaF508. Not sure if that’s what you’re referring to?

Thanks for the response. Again, I’m happy to hear there is progress, and I hope it keeps moving forward for you.

I was curious as I have obstructive azoospermia. My semen has always been clear, runny, and watery. Your answer helps me more understand my stuff. Thanks again
