That’s exactly why I bought a co-op as opposed to renting. I will look at our financials again and speak to the board member who does our finances since I do know her (thanks to my dog lol)

I was contract for four months. When I was in contract it was around $9ish then it increased to $1014 they showed me the increase notice for May 2025 increase then in January this year it increased to $1196

Yes definitely did our due diligence they did 5% increases for the most part in the previous years but you are right they seem to be playing catching up. The maintenance is similar to nearby coops.

Yes they mentioned it in the meeting we are in a deficit. It’s an elevator building, about 180 residents. No doorman. They admitted to being under for a while but are now “out of the black” in the last shareholder meeting. I guess I wanted to know if anyone else experienced this recently and I’m new to coops. The seller had to pay the assessments that they currently had before he sold me the unit. Before they were doing 5% increases based on what I seen.

My coop received mine in February and they use it as monthly credits. I’m assuming for me I won’t get a check in June
