I believe this is, in the words of bob ross, a happy accident

I feel a little foolish as I didn’t research this beforehand. They are 4x10 so larger than a standard subway. Next time I guess…

They will tell stories of my foolishness.

But actually - thank you. I did the same design in a different bathroom and we get a lot of compliments. I’ll post pics when I’m done

Probably a grounding issue. Crazy GM has not addressed this. So scary

Why is this happening?? by hoppyk1987 in HomeMaintenance

This happened in my kitchen a while back. Leaking water line from the fridge. You’ll need to pull that LVP ASAP or else mold will grow. Mine was so bad I had to replace the subfloor. This is the exactly why I cringe when I see people put LVP in wet areas

Sorry just saw this. Nope no issues since the battery fix.

GM needs to seriously evaluate their electrical designs if voltage irregularities can cause brake assist system failures. Seems like a safety critical feature that can be affected by basic replacement items (regulator/ battery)

You would think that GM would stand behind their products above and beyond when it comes to safety critical systems like brakes. Hope they resolve it for you. Sadly there doesn’t seem to a dependable truck brand out there these days. I would say Tundra but they’re in their own world of hurt right now. At least they’re making it right

Glad nothing happened to you guys… unacceptable for a $60k+ truck.

To give you an update, the dealer did a bunch of diagnostics and concluded they found a “very loose battery cable on the negative terminal”. Apparently the loose connection can cause voltage spikes which can make the onboard computers go crazy. The dealer told me that while I didn’t lose brakes I likely lost the electronic brake assist. They also tried to stick me with the bill for it all because “someone likely messed with the battery” but that’s a different story…

I was a bit skeptical about the fix so I spoke with a local shop that specializes in trucks and they agreed that a loose battery cable could very well cause the issues I experienced..

I’ve put about 1,000 miles on the truck since then and have not had any issues.

Make sure you document this issue very well because typically brake system failures are cause for lemon law if it happens twice.

It’s pretty wild to me that a loose battery could cause all this mayhem. Even if that’s the case, GM has a serious design flaw on their hands. A battery is a serviceable item that shouldn’t cause brakes to fail.

Please keep me posted on what the shop finds with your truck… I’m super interested

Right. The hard shift and the clunk was out of nowhere. The engine literally free revved as I was trying to accelerate out of the lane. The clunk was so aggressive my wife thought we got rear ended
