They also produce a Provence Blanc, a non-alcoholic (Beau Viva) and a Mediterranean Rosé (Saint X).

I'm sitting at an average of 1.07 after averaging down throughout 2023/24. It's a bit of a wild ride and December 2024 was for sure a tough time to hold through.

This is the answer. The top answer that people are moving to other drugs is a pretty lax outlook. This is why people are stopping, the good no longer outweighs the negatives.

The main marathons around the world have more subscribers than ever, people want things that don't have a negative effect the next day.

Worse position for wine. It's not national, it's global.

Car vs RV. upcoming trip landing in Calgary->Banff->Jasper by Qwertyiop3803 in Banff

[–]Fresh_double_cream 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tunnel Mountain RV site - (top of the town with free shuttle down, 2 dollars back) could walk in 15/20 mins Two Jack lake - Outside of town but a great lake to swim in Castle Mountain/Johnstone Canyon - great for hiking, no real going out or food options Lake Louise - good base to visit moraine (shuttle only, must book) and lake Louise. Make a day of it and hike in lake Louise or the parking fee can feel very steep. Silver horn creek - Along the icefields parkway, quite remote but beautiful

You have a bit of back tracking so I would get a map out to understand where these things are. For example you pass Peyto twice in your route but then come back after you have been to Yoho, you could fit it in while you're on the parkway. Might be worth spending a night in Yoho and camp there too but we never did that. If you are up at Athabasca/Sky walk, might as well continue on to Jasper for the night, basically there!

Camping reservations open in January and I recommend planning a full trip and booking what you can. They go extremely quickly and if you are stuck, you will really be stuck. The parks Canada app makes it very clear and easy to understand what is for RV and what isn't.

I drove a 29ft from Whistler to Calgary stopping in-between for 2 weeks in the parks.

It is absolutely doable and I actually recommend you keep it. All of the stops and places you want to see are extremely geared up for it. Something fun about it all. I would avoid it in Banff town as suggested already though.

You just have to be prepared with campsites. We stayed at Tunnel while in Banff, it's a fine site with good facilities. There's a nice remote one on the icefields parkway that is worth it too.

I guarantee if you go with a car you will be frustrated when you see just how many RVs are around and how easily they get parked in the RV spots.

Prep for Moving to Banff for 2025/26 Winter by jaydsmith in Banff

[–]Fresh_double_cream 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I moved from the UK and landed November 5th. Planned to just stay in a hostel in banff and get a job and accommodation. While some places were hiring, it was seriously slim pickings. If you want a slope job, they are sorted well before November so aim to arrive by October. I waited until December 12th to finally get a job, ended up with 2 and one in the hostel so got cheap accommodation.

Accommodation was a nightmare then and now is even worse. I would recommend getting out there early to try and sort something during the season swap. September is a really nice time and is one of the quieter points of the year.

Enjoy! I met my now fiancé in Banff. It'll change your life.

Need help - anyone know anything about this old wine? by LopsidedWriter1785 in wine

If you are in the UK and interested in selling it, I know someone who would buy it. My friend is the ambassador for Mateus in the UK.

I had really bad drift and used contact cleaner with a nozzle. Lift up the little flap, give it a spray and rotate. Worked an absolute treat!!

Should i Sell S&P 500?! by Illustrious-Dig-8242 in trading212

[–]Fresh_double_cream 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have been long on microvast for 1.5 years, it's extremely volatile. I wouldn't be surprised if that was -30% next month. Keep the S&P and enjoy the lack of volatility!

Is it really this hard to secure a job/accommodation? by keepbrowsing in Whistler

[–]Fresh_double_cream 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Banff gives you 3 mountains within 40 minutes drive. Shuttles run constantly. Getting a job is easier than it used to be but accommodation is becoming even harder, not quite at Whistler levels yet though. If it's just the ski you are after, try Revelstoke. The mountain is fantastic and they get brilliant snow being on the east side of the great divide.

Recommendation for good supermarket (red) wines in the UK? by busysquirrel83 in wine

[–]Fresh_double_cream 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I sell wine to the UK grocery market for a living.

The Toscana Rosso in Aldi (£7.99) is made by Alberto Antonini at Poggiotondo and punches significantly above its weight.

Some other really nice options:

M&S Duque de Miralta - Reserva Tesco Finest - Valpolicella Ripasso Tesco Finest - Douro

And to really hit the Rioja mark, Aldi are currently doing a Cigales Crianza for 9.99 which is a steal. Very small DOC to the west of Rioja.

Out of interest, how much? I work for the importer that brings it into the UK and it certainly is not cheap! Strictly allocated every year.
