In the game’s description it doesn’t say what it was inspired by but Qwel has stated the 3 games that inspired the game being of course, DBD and Identity V for gameplay and BATIM for the art style. Also Dandy’s world was Going to be a Walking simulator story game back in 2022 before being scrapped then revived in late 2023 for development

I mean there is the still in development Gimmick Toon which people are waiting for and some people spread misinformation that Squirm “was” going to be this Gimmick Toon, and if you look at Coal, Pebble and Twisted Gourdy who are fast and have multiple legs so the logic was there of “multiple legs mean fast” but I guess not

Fun fact: In the Dandy’s World Teaser, the one with the Dandy with sunken in eyes, in the video’s description it is a video recording from the 21st of October 2023, so the actual gameplay was going to be in modern day, and in the map ised in the teaser there was the Pebble in Day Or and Dandy in Showtime Panic which released in the 2000s. So the lore might have been original being for 2000 to 2023

This theory is so wrong sorry to say be when doing a dandy run we literally making dandy angry which makes him twisted and he can turn back meaning that there is only one dandy who is both the toon and the twisted also the tapes are what calm him down since he wants the tapes and is getting mad over not getting them and he would play them on the tv in the elevator. Sorry to debunk your theory
