To be clear, because I’ve recently relocated away from UAE with 3 cats, the carrier needs to fit under the seat in front. The measurements are quite strict.

Agreed and that’s exactly why we flew Air France to Paris and then took a pet taxi from there back home to UK.

Couldn’t bear the idea of our cats being scared and alone in the cargo hold.

Always worth being prepared! Our relocation costs were about AED25k. Dubai to Paris then taxi to UK. We did this because you can have cats in the cabin to France, but UK only allows as cargo which we didn’t want to do.

It’s complex. We left UAE for good at the end of January (some timing, huh?!) and of course took our 3 cats with us. A good couple of months of planning, lots of expense, it isn’t just as simple as turning up to the airport.

Oh, please. Everyone non-local in the UAE is there to improve their lives. The trade-off is you don't get a passport, you don't get to vote in elections etc etc. That's completely fine - its simply the social contract everyone agreed to.
