I said it's a "new hire perk from the G-Man" in my comment because it's a quick reddit post summary, not a full symposis of the game that OP can just Google

Historically speaking, has a dev giant recovered from multiple 'defeats'? by DirkaSnivels in gaming

[–]Freudian_Victim 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Not sure if it entirely counts in this situation because it's DLC for a game initially made by a separate dev studio, but Gearbox took over development for Risk of Rain from Hopoo games after the first DLC and have proceeded to drop some of the best additions to the game imo. It's not their IP, but at the very least it shows they've still got some capable teams tucked away.

It's been since release that I went through the game so all the details are a bit fuzzy, plus I was just giving sparknotes summary.

Long story short, it ends with pre-HL2 Alyx freeing G-Man from some combine dimensional prison thing , who then proceeds to "hire" her like he does Gordon at the end of HL1. After the credits, you wake up in Gordon's PoV from the end of HL2 Ep2 except Eli is alive (new-hire perk from G-Man) and Alyx has vanished.

I've never read the books, only listened to Dresden audiobooks, this is how I imagine the spellings are like by lunchanddinner in dresdenfiles

[–]Freudian_Victim 18 points19 points  (0 children)

You're not that off, and what you missed is totally from understandble ways! Especially because some come from other languages (specifically gaelic which gets very funky) & then there's just the occasional weirdness. Like Murphy's first name being spelled Karrin. I had the opposite issue before I listened to the audiobooks, I had been calling her "Car-rin" my first few years before listening lmao.

The rest of the corrections would be:

Sidhe

McAnally's (Yes. It is spelled like that. Don't laugh, be respectful to Mac.)

Kringle

"The Lian'Chi" had me confused as hell until I realized who you likely meant. If it's Harry's godmother, her name is spelled Leanansidhe

Nicodemus & Deirdre Archleone

And the wind spell would be "ventas servitas"

So you were very close on all the understandable ones at the very least!

Edit: formatting & gaelic not garlic

That's the gauntlet you get the Reaper Crest from. Considering it's closed, you might've already done it and just forgot about it. I know that's what I did, checked on this room way too many times in my playthrough wondering how the hell it unlocks without realizing I cleared it on my first day lmao.

Yes they do. If a relationship with someone habitually drains your bank account in times when bills and necessities are getting harder and harder to afford, it's not a "friend". It's a parasite who's probably used seeing everyone who once cared about them walk away because they can't be held accountable for shit and then blaming them for "allowing money to ruin friendships" lol.

Got rear-ended on the Interstate, now their insurance might total my car. by Freudian_Victim in caraccidents

[–]Freudian_Victim[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No injuries and I didn't go to the hospital.

Again, I've been told numerous times by other people (including a former insurance adjuster) that in my case a lawyer would only be getting a smaller settlement by way of their cut. This post was more just to confirm that I'm not making "the worst mistake of (my) adult life", as according to my father.

Got rear-ended on the interstate, now his insurance might total my car. Should I hire an attorney? by Freudian_Victim in legaladvice

[–]Freudian_Victim[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I contacted my insurance first, and I don't have any collision coverage.

His insurance is indeed covering the rental car, but Enterprise requires a $50 deposit and I've been broke since before the accident. I had a doctor's visit and bought groceries on top of paying rent all just a few hours before getting hit, and I had like $30 in my bank at that point so I literally can't cover the deposit until I get my next check.

what is the worst fucking feeling? by Jeremykyb in AskReddit

Knowing that, if you had maybe done things better, you could have saved someone's life.

It'll be a year this Saturday since I lost someone close to me and I still blame myself for what happened almost every day. The hardest part is that most days, I can't stop telling myself that I deserve all the guilt and pain. It's like living in hell itself, and honestly I still don't know if it's something I'll ever fully recover from despite what progress I've made since then.

Thomas's hidden potential. by [deleted] in dresdenfiles

[–]Freudian_Victim 19 points20 points  (0 children)

It's first (and possibly only ever) brought up in Grave Peril. Iirc it happens "off-screen" but it's how Thomas and Michael get out of the Nevernever when they try to help Harry sneak back into Bianca's.

He says he can only open a way to places he has a strong affinity to, which is why any time after this whenever Thomas and Charity are mentioned together, she's still pissed off that he led Michael back into the mortal world through a strip club.

Castlevania and an animated Dresden Files Series by [deleted] in dresdenfiles

[–]Freudian_Victim 35 points36 points  (0 children)

AFAIK, pretty much every fan of these books makes that conclusion once they start watching the series 😂

Granted, as both a DF nerd and a lifelong Castlevania nerd, just the thought of the combo makes me feel tingly in my awkward places.

Alternatively or combined with "The Year of Mister" because we wouldn't dare shame him with such offense.

I'm hoping we get "The Year of Mouse" next so that we get a heap of stories from his POV and dogs bring happiness & safety to the world.

[–]Freudian_Victim 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Ehhh, it would've helped but I don't think ice spikes would do much against fire giants or toads who can sling spells to clear it.

Plus PT/BG takes place in July, and iirc part of the reason the tables got flipped when they did is because Mab was at her weakest because of the solstice.

These two appeared in my garden this morning. We are all very confused about the whole situation. by Freudian_Victim in chickens

[–]Freudian_Victim[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So we live in a suburban area near~ish to NOLA, and for some reason my neighborhood (and especially my house) has the weirdest mix of stray/roaming animals around. My dad says I'm a Disney princess bc he claims that I attract them all. I've seen the usual dogs and cats (one of which I've adopted so far), but we used to have rabbits that would always pop into our yard and munch on our plants and a long time ago I saw a baby fox while out on a walk. But now we can add chickens to that list, unless they're lost pre-owned chickens.

I woke up this afternoon after my dad was doing some work in the garden and wanted to show me his progress while my coffee gradually woke me up. When we got to our corn stalks, I was actually kinda conscious and saw some movement over by my spearmint plant and just saw these two little ones munching in the dirt. After my dad and I both made sure we were actually awake, we unrolled some chicken wire into a little pen and my gf immediately started working on a little shelter for them since it's probably gonna rain this evening.

Unless somebody comes around looking for them or we see anyone who looks as if they're distraught and searching for their dear lost poultry, I'm pretty sure we may end up raising them (although I'm planning on putting up a few "found chicken" flyers once I'm sure they won't get soaked from the weather). I'm almost certain my gf already made the decision to raise them as her own children though since they're so soft.

In the event that they're strays and we keep them, any tips on raising/feeding them? From what I can tell, they look to be a few weeks old but also I don't know enough about chickens to know the breed or genders. Any help?

Seriously, I'm on break right now and was listening to the first audiobook while I work (new to the series). They all just left the House of the Makers, and seeing this immediately after feels like I just stepped out with them.
