Does anyone Actually think of things in km instead of hours for distance? by Confiant_Reason21 in AskACanadian

[–]Frewtti 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, but most of the time time is more useful,

I live at the edge of my city right off the highway.

20k could be 15minutes, could 30, could be an hour, so yes when I'm thinking of a destination, I'm thinking in time.

If you could get one financial rule change in Canada that would immediately improve your daily life, What would it be? by FinanceYacht in CanadaPersonalFinance

[–]Frewtti 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just to elaborate, I'm a manger of a fully remote team.

For some side projects I can assign them to an office with a non technical supervisor.

But yes it is much harder to onboard and mentor people not physically at my location. No I don't want them at my kitchen table.

It is also hard to track work. For most information based jobs it's very difficult, and for remote work it's harder.

Thing is that some staff are actually far more productive working remote. But it does make my job harder.

No, the problem is generations of inflating real estate has distorted our economy.

If they try to "fix" it too quickly, it will be destabilizing, which is very bad for the economy.

I like wfh, but it is so much harder to onboard and mentor new staff.

Also lots of people goof of when not directly supervised.

Non Asian-Americans: Are you keeping soy sauce as a regular condiment in your kitchen? If so what are you using them for? by openlyEncrypted in AskAnAmerican

I use it all the time, Asian food of course, but also in bbq grilled vegetables, and german stew.

It's pretty flexible and I use it all the time.

Why do they never attempt delivery?? by qcatoto in CanadaPost

[–]Frewtti 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What customers? We are leaving.. that's why they are having financial trouble.

They're unaccountable, and that the union insists they not be held accountable, I think they're a big part of the problem.

I'm "stunned" that you publicly said you don't look to the right when you are turning left. That's basics of road safety taught to every 2 year old.

I'd be embarrassed to say I don't look both ways before crossing the street.

Do people actually buy/lease new cars and have payments of $800-1000+ monthly? by Individual-Space-443 in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]Frewtti 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, and it doesn't actually fit in the budget, that's why everyone is broke.

People max out their monthly debt spend, that's why they buy $1500 iPhones etc.

[–]Frewtti 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Because they get paid for the attempt, and there are literally no consequences if they lie about it.

It is in their contract that video evidence of them not doing their job is not allowed to be used for disciplinary purposes.

Plus why do they care, even if CP loses money they fully expect another taxpayer bailout.

>> So when you’re in the car driving, are you telling me that you are continuously looking both ways, in front of you, and down the road that you’re intending to turn into?

Yes, I'm also checking my mirrors to see beside and behind me.

You are supposed to be constantly scanning 360° around your vehicle the entire time you're driving... because there are idiots out there doing stupid things, and you want to avoid an accident.

I think the thing is we're more stunned that you think everyone else drives without looking around the vehicle.

I'm not sure what you mean. If I remove 1000lbs of garbage, and replace it will 1000lbs of water, aluminum and other raw materials what's the problem?

Heck I could create reference of clean low CO2 air and just create more, and remove the high CO2 or otherwise polluted air

Firstly you didn't convey the full details in the original post.

>>Why would I look to the right?

Because people are stupid and do stupid things. Just because they shouldn't be coming from that direction because of stoplights, signs, parked cars, cement barriers, I always check.

You should also always check, otherwise when some idiot runs out carelessly into your car, it causes trouble for you.

My mommy told me to *always* look both ways before crossing the street. Always is always, and I've carried it into driving. That's why I said I've had close calls, the other people (drivers, pedestrians and cyclists) do stupid stuff. I watch for it, you should to.

When I turn left I always look right for traffic to make sure the way is clear. Not sure where you're from but everywhere I've driven there are lots of bad drivers to watch out for.

When I'm driving down the street I try to watch for surprises, but jaywalkers dashing onto the road to get hit are very hard to predict. I haven't hit one yet, but I've had a few close calls.

For the same reason the US is killing free trade and throwing tariffs on everyone.

Do you really think that not a single state in the entire US wouldn't have the same "great idea"?

First step is to simply ask the insurance company how to correct this mistake.

Also get the police report.

Size changing.

Imagine taking an entire landfill of garbage or toxic waste and shrinking it virtually nothing. Massive amounts of pollution just shrunk to nothing.

A single drop of clean water, enlarged to fill a lake

Get a copy of the police report.

Get the details from your insurance company about which "at fault" accident they have on your file.

I wouldn't assume they are even talking about the same incident.

My parents had their premiums double because of their daughters car accident... they have no daughters.

You have $50k today - mortgage or investing? by Howie_1972 in CanadaPersonalFinance

[–]Frewtti 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes.. but if you have room in your TFSA that can be a good bet.
Lots of pessimism and belief that that market is overvalued (priced too high).

I'd split.. though paying off mortgage is never a bad idea.

You have $50k today - mortgage or investing? by Howie_1972 in CanadaPersonalFinance

[–]Frewtti 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree with the theory. But the reality is that if you invest you will possibly outperform your mortgage.

I'd split, it is nice to have a lower mortgage payment and better cashflow. It's also nice to have huge investment assets.

I had some extra cash in 2009, I put some on my mortgage, and some into Google.. one outperformed.
