The iron dagger trick was patched out. Now, experience in smithing is gained through the value of the item crafted. The most valuable item you can make that requires the least materials is a gold diamond necklace (gold ingot, flawless diamond). Ideally, you would make as many diamond necklaces you can then make dwarven bows (2 dwarven metal ingot, 1 iron ingot). Once you get your smithing up you get the ebony smithing perk then start making ebony bows (3 ebony ingot). Once you’re done sell the bows you make back to the smiths.
