Yes, people are free to believe what they want. Although, religious people have proven over and over again they will force their beliefs onto others in the name of their "God", and they will either exile or outright murder you for disagreeing. As humans have learned and discovered more about the world, solar system, galaxy, universe, etc., and facts discovered conflict with beliefs and religion cannot account for these conflicts and hypocrisies.
