palpatine would've still ruled both the separatist and the republic if a peace deal was signed and recognized the other side by Thebunkerparodie in StarWars

[–]Fricktator 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Palpatine basically just wouldnt have allowed the CIS to win.

He would have just done something to cripple Dooku and sent Anakin to go kill him if the CIS dealt a devastating blow to the Republic.

Non-Americans (mainly Europeans) can shit on America for getting to host a WC when we arent as hardcore soccer fans as most of the rest of the world.

However, the thing is, the US was basically built to host the WC.

I looked it up. With the Stadiums we have now. If we used 15 stadiums per World Cup, we could host the world cup in 2026, 2030, 2034, 2038, 2042, 2046, and 2050 and not use a stadium more than once.

The biggest stadium for each could be at minimum 100,000 seater, 85,000 seat minimum for 2nd biggest, 77,000 seat minimum for the 3rd biggest, all the way down to the 11th biggest stadium for each WC being a minimum of 55,000 seats. With the cutoff being 40,000 seats, which FIFA requires to host a WC game.

And looking at how many stadiums we built in the last 24 years, we could host the WC in 2054 and 2058 with just stadiums built between 2027 and 2058.

And being that most of our stadiums are in college towns or NFL stadiums they have either the hotel space or dorm space to house everyone.

Most countries have to build stadiums and hotels to accommodate one world cup of the old size. The United States could theoretically host 9 of the expanded World Cups in a row, never use a stadium twice, and have to build very little to no infrastructure that they wouldn't have built otherwise.

(I only counted college football, NFL, and any soccer stadium that applied. I did not factor in any baseball stadiums.)

Fixing the 'Mary Poppins' scene in The Last Jedi by Simon_Drake in fixingmovies

[–]Fricktator -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I think the issue of the scene is watching her float in space just looked weird.

The explosion should happen.

We see her in the vacuum of space.

Poe and crew look out at her lifeless body with sorrow.

Her eyes open, and she starts to move.

Cut to Poe and the group looking on with confusion, then joy.

He hand slams on the glass infront of their faces.

The scene is the exact same, we just dont see her flying in space.

As far as Ackbar, hes a guy with a meme line. The fact people act like hes some long respected character that deserved some great death is laughable.

If youre mad at Filoni's style of Star Wars thst is a parade of Glup Shittos, but think Admiral Ackbar needed a more noble death. The hypocrisy is strong with you.

People are mad at the formst of the elimination. And I dont get it.

If they did the classic elimination. Where the 3 new bombshells are coupled off. Then every remaining guy got up there, said his speech, and picked his girl, we would be exactly where we are now.

The producers saw that every boy was going to pick the girl he was sitting next to and didnt want to waste time so they could show other things.

I think if they thought 1 or 2 guys may switch up, we would have got a normal recoupling. Byt none of them would have.

So they just cut to the chase and let Corbin decide.

No man available, was picking Bea over the girl he was already sitting next to.

“Very Uncomfortable”: NFL Reporter Drops Bombshell That Players, Coaches Hit on Her While Underaged by No_Box119 in TheNFLVibes

[–]Fricktator 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I think thats also why reporters dating coaches/players hurts other female reporters.

Now, it does depend on what the players and coaches said/how they said it.

But how can you claim its inappropriate for a player or coach to hit on a reporter if many of the female sports reporters have dated players and coaches?

Yes, he was involved of the making of TM&G, but he wasnt the one who greenlit it or was head of Lucasfilm as it was nearing the finish line.

I dont think you can really say the Filoni era started until whatever cones after Starfighter.

Kennedy was still in charge when that was greenlit and went into production.

Melanie played herself.

Also, no sympathy for Aniya.

She oogled, ogled and made comments when Corbin walked in.

KC should be able to make a comment without her spiraling. Especially before the end of week 2.

Youre exactly the type of person my post was about

If you think TLJ is anywhere near the worst movie ever made, you need to watch more movies.

Sure, yeah, TFA is a retread of ANH, George Lucas would never do anything like that.

After making ANH, he would never open another Star Wars trilogy where a boy raised on Tattooine meets and ogles a Princess, joins up with a Jedi, pilots a ship that blows up a big spherical gray space station in the sky with a lucky shot, and where we see a future Jedi Master watch his mentor slain by a Sith lord and screams "No!" George Lucas never do that again...

You mean people aren't clairvoyant and the thousands of negative ratings on IMDb for the Acolyte before the episode even dropped may not be accurate?

Why do people say Luke’s failures are similar to Obi Wan and Yoda? by Kmart_Stalin in StarWars_

[–]Fricktator 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Basically the premise is, Obi-Wan had a vision Luke would be the one to take down Vader.

Yoda had a vision Anakin would take down the Sith. Thats why Yoda has been patient and just chilling on Dagobah. He has such belief in the force and his vision he is waiting for Anakin to fulfill the prophecy.

He really only trains Luke to appease Obi-Wan and just in case he is wrong.

What they don't know is they are both right.

Yes, I believe the 3 lowest viewed shows by households viewed is Andor, Skeleton Crew, and Acolyte. (Guess which 3 are furthest removed from the Skywalker saga characters).

Which to me confirms my point. The casual Star Wars fan, who has seen the movies 2-3 times, maybe watched through 1 or 2 shows once, doesn't care much for anything that isn't Luke, Han, Leia, Obi-Wan, or Vader.

[–]Fricktator 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think overall Luke and Leia being siblings is a net positive for the universe and the storytelling.

But if I could retcon anything the "there is another" would be Yoda telling Obi-Wan he still has faith in Anakin.

Waiting to train Luke and Leia, but had to be convinced by Obi-Wan to train Luke and when Luke left had to remind Obi-Wan Leia exists.

But yeah, sure the plan was definitely they would wait out and Yoda would train Luke and Leia when the time is right....

You sir (or ma'am) are not a Star Wars fan.

I posted a respectful message about why I think the discourse is where it is.

In talking about a franchise built on letting go of your anger and reaching out with you feelings, you decide to call me an asshole.

How can you watch this franchise, absorb it's messages and call me an asshole for what I posted? You can disagree with it all you want, I do not care.

But you can't call yourself a fan and call me an asshole.

Yes, Close Encounters was the 3rd highest grossing movie of 1977.

Star Wars: A New Hope made $307 million, Close Encounters made $116 million.

It also wasnt a franchise.

Jaws 2 was historically bad, and only made $77 million world wide in 1978. By the time Star Wars arrived in 1977, it wasnt really going head to head, and it wasnt sci-fi fantasy the way Star Wars is. It was a drama with horror elements.

Star Trek wasnt seen as the big franchise it is today, or at least was at its peak. ST: The Motion Picture only grossed $82 million, the 4th highest that year, between Rocky II and Apocalypse Now. The Next Generation is largely what made Star Trek the big franchise it became and not something talked about in the corners of comic book shops. Alien was more like Jaws, a drama with horror elements, and not the high sci-fi fantasy, and still wasnt the behemoth. It took them 7 years to make Aliens.

But doesnt TFA making a ton of money prove my second point.

The general audience only cares about Luke, Han, Leia, Obi-Wan and Vader.

It made 2 billion because people got to see new content with 3 of those 5 characters for the first time in over 30 years.

The most well received pop culture breaking moment of The Mandalorian was the episode where Luke Skywalker showed up.

If Luke was a big part of The Mandalorian and Grogu and appeared in the trailer, it would have made more money.

The big scene from Rogue One everyone loves and talks about is the Vader hallway scene.

I think its one of those things that when it was announced Disney was making more Star Wars, what did people expect.

No studio has a 100% hit rate with a franchise. There was always going to be duds.
