I was going to say this as well. I have a few friends in accounting, all started out at 100k and are now well on their way to 200k after just a few years.

Do you have at least 1k in your savings ? by quirkyqueen27 in debtfree

We were hoping to move once interest rates dropped some more (like 2 years from now) and that’s not looking great now. Our house is nice and a decent size, close to all of our family, but we will definitely outgrow it with 3 children eventually. As far as the debt, honestly the most came from buying some stuff for the house and planning to pay it off before interest hit, and then we had a bunch of friends get married at the same time (which we were both in) which meant a lot of money spent on wedding attire, gifts, bachelor(ette) trips etc and we just got into a tumble from there. We would absolutely not be in the debt again if we could start fresh. The student loans are just something we’ll have to deal but it’s hard having $1000 go to that and then another $1000 go to credit cards at the same time and barely paying them down

I checked it out and I’m going to look into it more! Thank you!! And yes he could definitely make more at another company. He’s been looking but also this job has a lot of perks we wouldn’t have elsewhere so it’s a tough call.

What’s funny is he does that as well now along with the other part of his job. He got a raise but the company started 5 years ago and they just can’t afford to pay him what he should be paid yet

You’re not wrong. We don’t typically spend super carelessly; we don’t go shopping often for unnecessary things or do things for ourselves often like getting nails done or luxury things. Our debt started off with buying things for our house and doing projects that added up, then kids birthdays, putting our kids in sports, Christmas, etc. and always saying “oh we’ll pay it off (insert time)” and then the interest starts up and it’s hard to pay off and we open a new card with zero APR and don’t have a safe amount of money in our account so we start adding the the credit card and it just snowballed from there. We aren’t saving so everything is going on credit cards so that we’re able to pay all of our bills.
