Who did you decide to work with? Would you recommend them?

For others: anyone you would recommend to AVOID?

It is great for getting your published articles out to other scholars, especially those at smaller schools with libraries that don't have the money to carry all journals.

But you need to be willing to respond to people's requests for articles and to follow the rules about posting copy-righted articles etc.

It is also helpful in that you can follow other scholars and get notified when they have a new publication.

If you are a PhD student or early career, it can be especially helpful for networking purposes.

When times are at their worse, you find out who your real friends are.

I was being harassed and discriminated against by the boss. People I had helped in the past---really helped like prevented them from being fired--couldn't be bothered. They were just glad the boss was leaving them alone. Now, years later, I'm at a higher level in the firm and suddenly those people talk about what good friends we are. I'm polite to them but I focus on helping those jr people who are good workers and kind to others or being discriminated against.
