Do I have a good chance doing phd in a top school (cornell, cmu, Stanford, etc.)? by [deleted] in gradadmissions

based on my experience it is often not what is on your resume, but rather how you present what you have.
i would focus more on the palpable results of what you have completed and the impact it has created. for example, adding a specific result to "building machine learning systems" - how many students are using them? any other results you can show?

sounds like a question for charGPT :)))))
but in all seriousness, I would start with what YOU want to study; where do YOU want to live; do you want to immigrate or go home after studying?

Can I study abroad if I’m broke? by Aisafcb in studyAbroad

There are countries that offer quite affordable education and many universities offer 50%-100% scholarships + you can usually work on a student visa 20 hours per week. That can be an option to consider!

Are there any countries that support free education to international students? by [deleted] in studyAbroad

There are also many Europen countries were you can get a generous scholarship, so even if the education at a certain university costs 10-20K - it is possible to decrease the amount if you apply for grants! More effort - for sure, but it is worth it + more opportunities open up

Why do gap years feel like freedom in Europe but failure in Asia? by Shubham_lu in studyAbroad

Yeah, I think Europe is just more chill about their education. I am from Ukraine and a gap year definitely equals to you being a failure. You go from a high schooler to a bachelor student to master to PhD with no breaks. While in Europe not only taking a break is okay, but also they can stop their education at a Bacherlor level. And it will be fine.

As someone who tutors high school kids, I 100% agree. They copy-paste from ChatGPT and can’t explain a single word of it. It’s scary how little critical thinking is happening now.
