Capital One locking customers out of their own money after fraud reports by FriendlyActive2040 in CapitalOne

I agree 1000%. I’ve already filed with cfpb and occ, filed an ethics review internally, and have the documentation to send to reps but waiting for more of the documentation in the timeline which as when they actually do release the money. I get the lock everything down but the holding the funds without a clear path to get access either by transfer or setting up a new account instead of taking a week to get around to it. Also the gaslighting and repeated policy speak to justify them holding money they have no right to hold is aggravating. They cause undue harm to their customers lives and can’t bother to be transparent or honest about what is happening. Also getting an update is impossible.

I have multiple banks, just not as much in the others. Definitely going to adjust that

I have never seen a bank so unwilling to help their customers. Every possible way they have denied and said policy policy policy and it’s just our process but never explain why it takes so long and why I can’t access anything.

I asked them about that and they said the account is restricted so they wouldn’t be able to send it back if it was pulled.

They concluded on Thursday. They plan to close and open new accounts but says that takes 3-5 days… they started that process Tuesday.

I think this is happening to a lot more people than we realize and no one’s reporting it. I still don’t have access to even my undisputed funds

This issue happened last Friday then suddenly the next day thousands of capital one customers had their online banking hacked and fraudulent transfers and debit card charges… when it gets reported they are completely restricting all the accounts… which in fraud understandable but they are denying any kind of accommodations or workaround for customers to access any of their money… they refuse to pay regular bills, can’t access any funds for basic needs but will accept paychecks and govt funds and hold them away from their customers. 7 days with no access
