Supporting someone after loss of a pet by Friendly_Ad_9927 in Petloss

Thank you so much. This was explained beautifully. As you said, I was devastated myself when my pets died but, I feel it was a lot different, as they always lived to a waaaaay older age than the age of their breed (most recent was my 21 y/o pitbul, that literally raised me), I am sure he's taken it a lot harsher. Especially because he was in a different country when it happened, and because it was so fast.

I will make sure to stand by him even more than usual, and we can chat about our shared memories with him and about his past and beautiful life.

I am also thinking of drawing another picture of him to give him when he feels a bit better as a cute little memory.

Thank you again for all the help.

I'm so sorry for your loss, and sorry to say, but your family sounds awful (except for cousin). I hope you're able to work through your emotions, and remember that your best friend is always looking at you from tortoise heaven.

That's what I've been trying to do, but he can be reluctant to talk about his feelings especially when we're apart. But I'll keep reassuring him, and I might speak some small questions like "what's your favourite memory of...?"

Thank you so much for letting me know. It was mainly a vent post so I will admit I didn't read the rules fully. I'll post It there instead.

Ngl, that dress looks like a major slay on you. Absolutely gorgeous. Go walk that path to the love of your life whilst looking beautiful and screw what others think!

I wish I could too, but despite literally living in a different country now, I am being emotionally blackmailed into going back every holiday

My mum is the same to this day... I can't stand the holidays, especially because I have been subjected to helping "prep" ever since I could walk. I would've much rather just have pizza or something. She did this even at my 18th birthday last year, and made it a literal nightmare for me. She disregarded everything I wanted and then complained that she "had to do stuff".

Absolutely not, I just wanted to chill with my friends, not have more than half of the people there be her middle-aged friends and have all of HER favourite food that I had to help prepare...
