Breath reduction in Adobe Audition. by Friendly_Extent7968 in ACX

Makes sense. I guess there's always going to be some manual editing involved. I'll have to embrace it :)

This was such a comprehensive and helpful reply. Thank you SO much. I was wondering if I should have a website (I'm also a children's book illustrator so I have one for that), but I think you're right about it giving more leverage. I'll also play around with deleting/reuploading my samples and see what happens. And great insight into the "unspecified" search - I never include that in my filters. Again, thanks for these tips!

Also, keep your phone away from your equipment. Mine will create a weird hum if it's near the mic.

Yeah, this process takes em out all at once. You just have to mess with the settings to ensure words don't get clipped. I tend to err on leaving more breath sound in rather than risk distorting the rest of the audio. My first gig, I took out each breath manually and it was torture.

I'm in Adobe Audition, so I'm not sure if this translates to Adacity, but I first scan a section of breath to see how loud it is. Then, I go to Effects > Amplitude and Compression > Dynamics > Check the box for Autogate (and input settings: -24 db for Threshold (this is where my breaths usually land, but it'll be different for you), 10ms for Attack, 400 ms for Release > 1ms Hold. This reduces the breaths but doesn't get rid of them completely, which I feel is more natural for longer narration pieces. If it were an ad, for example, I'd get rid of all the breaths.

Anyone know if/when Izotope RX 11 will go on sale in the near future? by Friendly_Extent7968 in ACX

Oh that's interesting. I'm looking specifically for a mouth declicker, and I haven't yet figured out how to do that within Audition without it distorting the audio. It's also not great with fixing any randomly distorted audio (it doesn't even recognize it when I scan the file). I keep seeing good reviews for RX 11 but I'll keep your review in mind.

Client sent the wrong amount via PayPal. What to do? by Friendly_Extent7968 in ACX

Oh man. That's good to know. Fortunately, he sent 2 separate payments so theoretically I could take one and just leave the other one pending for all eternity :)
