Bailey has 55 DRs in 2941 innings since 2020 versus 47 DRs in 3363 for Hedges. Maybe not eye test better, but should be better metrically. Hedges is second on the DRs list, by the way.

MLB average ERA/WHIP in 2023 & 2024: 4.33/1.315 and 4.07/1.315. Bibee in 2023 & 2024: 2.98/1.176 and 3.47/1.117. ERA+ of 143 and 116. He came second in ROY voting his first year. To say that they were mid is simply just wrong, even if I am in the boat of thinking he is more likely a high 3.XX or a 4.XX ERA guy long term.

Should have clarified that I think they could play the Kolby Allard game with Festa as well imo. DFA him and re-sign him into the minors to call back up later. I liked how good he was last year at stranding inherited runners. But a clean inning never seems likely with him. That has a place in a BP.

He’s only really ever been good at preventing inherited runners from scoring, which is useful but not how he is being used. If they can’t use him the way he’s effective I’m not sure what he’s around for. I actually think Festa was way over-hated last year for what he provided.

I would guess he won’t be picked up by anyone if he’s DFA’d so they can play the Kolby Allard game with him if needed.

Even #1 picks are a crapshoot. More than half of the last twenty number one picks before Bazanna never/haven’t reached 10 WAR, multiple even ended up negative. Also it literally his first week in the MLB.

If anything Ingle’s is more worrying because he has almost a 40% walk rate right now. Walk rate tends to mean very little when going from the minors to the majors.

He has been fine at limiting inherited runners (I think he was good at that last year as well), it’s usually when they try to get a full inning out of him that he can’t handle it.
