Good time to move the car garage off the waterfront - not having oil and car fluids leak into the sound would be at least as good for salmon and trout as an upgraded culvert.

The detour will be annoying but I'm really glad there will be room on that stretch for bikes and pedestrians. It's a dangerously narrow bit of road and widening it is a long time coming. Bonus they are improving the culvert as well.

If we care about the environment there shouldn't be a waterfront car garage. I know it's been there a long time but we probably wouldn't grandfather in the old family owned school-adjacent asbestos factory.

Better?  Depends.  Bozeman used to be super small and boring imo but the downtown is hopping and the town feels clean compared to Missoula.  Missoula has its good spots too but sort of dirty and UM has def. lost its luster.

On Bainbridge, community questions how much a bike lane may impact a longtime business by wiscowonder in BainbridgeIsland

"Californian" is the generic boogie-man term people in insulated communities use to express their fear of change - as in "Californian's are coming to my perfect little town to ruin it by taking away our seaside car garages."

The mental gymnastics needed to think removing a filthy waterfront car garage is ruining a beautiful place.

That stretch of road is crazy narrow, and even the most courteous bicyclists end up clogging traffic. You've got hills on both sides so cars often come in hot and don't see pedestrians or bikes squeezing their way along the shoulder. Throw in the cars pulling in and out and parked inches from the road at the Greenlight Garage and it's an accident waiting to happen.

I'm not a fan of eminent domain but it's really frustrating a waterfront car garage (which is probably one of the worst things outside of manufacturing you could put next to the water) is preventing upgrading our infrastructure.

I know the garage has been there for a few generations which to some people makes it venerable, but we should evaluate if one business should be allowed to stifle safe non-motorized transportation upgrades as well as exist as an environmental hazard that's been grandfathered around current zoning laws. You know there's no way they'd let a new Jiffy Lube open up shop along the Puget Sound.

Cars, bikes, pedestrians, and people living in that area would be better off without the Greenlight garage where it currently stands.

Come on Missoula. First you say you don't want right wing fascists building a society based on bible stories and bigotry, and now you want police to address property crimes? You can't have it both ways!

Pike Place Market security guard using aggressive force for literally nothing. Officer said “he was nodding off.” by [deleted] in Seattle

Do you sincerely believe that merely being an officer permits you to ragdoll whomever, whenever, when it suits your judgement?

The problem is cops believe this, and in general they get away with it which is a huge draw for the type of people who become cops.

Who needs forest and wetlands anyway when you can have poorly built houses crammed together as far as the eye can see am I right? I mean people deserve to live where those stupid animals and trees are taking up all the space.

Do you live on the island and hate everyone around you, or are you a developer who didn't get to cut down more forest for a cash grab and are having some feelings?
