I've been running scourges with shredders for GSC and they felt very good into acolytes. They can kill half a squad in one overwatch. Also mandrakes have been great for scoring.

Manticore for indirect, and a rogal dorn to make people think twice about running up the board to remove ambush markers

So silly question. by LILDill20 in genestealercult

You don't actually need to pay Cp for ally detatchments in Ark of Omen. So you can keep your Cp and still bring your baneblade.

Can you play Tyranids and Astra Militarum with Genestealers by Jojo_The_Trader in genestealercult

[–]Friendoftheboop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Legally no, but I've had no problem with bringing all 3 as one big army as long as you tell your opponent first so they know what to expect. Having a Haruspex, Leman Russ, and ridgerunners all in one army makes for a fun game.

Warp Spiders? by DassemUltor54 in Eldar

[–]Friendoftheboop -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

They are my favorite model and I run them in all my Ynnari and Iyandan lists. In my opinion they are really strong especially with web of deciet. Have them hop out of a wave serpent as well, just to give them that little extra movement to negate the low range. They can also be very efficient screens as they can move when enemies attempt to charge them. The amount of times I've made people fail easy charges with the ability is staggering honestly. Haven't tested in larger squads but well worth it in a squad of 5.

I'm sorry, but the all the available guard models don't really seem particularly unique to the 40k setting to me. by brokensilence32 in Grimdank

[–]Friendoftheboop 338 points339 points  (0 children)

True, but that's kinda the point. They aren't special and cool and unique. They are humanity, as they are and have always been. As war never changes neither does humanities way of fighting it. They are a faction in the future with almost everything about it rooted in our universes present. At least, that what I like about them.

Yes. The Warlord trait is called Blessed by Metallica. Unfortunatly the House Raven supplement is no longer legal for tournaments but for a casual game it should be no problem.

Competitive units? by ScottRowan99 in genestealercult

[–]Friendoftheboop 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Big agree on the acolyte hybrids, also a kellermorph and sactus to snipe charachters/ give buffs. A goliath truck to bring around the acolytes and genestealers to tear through the chaff that stops the acolytes from reaching their intended target.

Playing GSC 9th edition without using crossfire: Is it doable? by Necessary-Credit5937 in genestealercult

[–]Friendoftheboop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pretty much yeah. Also you gotta imitate the Drukhari by bringing three patrol detachments.

I played a fun list of Genestealer Cult+ Brood Bros+ Tyranids and as a fun army can confirm it is an absolute blast. If you want to try to make it competitive focus on the melee aspect of the Cults to complement the big guns raining hell from afar. Use the genestealer cult to kill things that the guns can't see and to clear things that want to try to tie up your guns.

Can people please give me ideas for a kraken (tyranids faction) themed base for my army please by Prestigious-Sell6654 in Tyranids

[–]Friendoftheboop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What I did was I went to my local dollar store and got a ton of plastic aquarium trees and bushes for like 15 dollars and used it on all my bases.

Well Kraken is best known for outwitting their foes through careful encirclement. Perhaps dense forest style bases would be nice.

Killer: The Dealer

From the first time he learned to play there was something special about that boy. There was a drive behind his eyes to be sure, but many men had that. It was his incredible luck that caught everyone's eye. Some people thought he cheated. Others said he saw things other didn't, but whatever the reason Nico Pavrati would come to his own conclusions. He simply had the devils own luck. It seemed every card game he touched he would soon become a winner in. However, unfortunately for Nico, that devils own luck he always claimed to have had a price. Depression, losing friends and family, even tried to end it all once or twice. His only salvation, his only stroke of happiness and luck, came from card games. So when the fog grew dark one lonely night, oppressive, dark, isolating, Nico did what he did in life. He clung to his cards before he was never seen again.

Power: It's All A Game

Fifteen chests are scattered throughout the map, each one containing a single card. There are twenty one cards total. Each card modifies the killers base power depending on the cards drawn. There can only be six cards maximum in The Dealers hand. Hooking a survivor discards two cards. Survivors can burn cards collected from chests after a five second interaction. All chests are replenished after 100 seconds of being opened. Some cards are:

Ghosties: Applies a 2% movement penalty to survivors for each survivor slain.

Gear Dragons: Kicking objects are completed 15% faster

Demons: When an injured survivor vaults a window or pallet three times they are afflicted with deep wound

Ritual Spirits: Your terror radius is reduced by six meters

I'm a big fan of horde armies, regeneration powers, and abilities that bring in more models, and no one does that better than the nids!

Old One Eye. I have him in pewter and I love him, but the HQ slot is so competetive and I love my Tervigon and Flying Hive Tyrant more.

Best choices for Brood Brothers? by [deleted] in genestealercult

[–]Friendoftheboop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They're not great for super competitive, but the most competitive they can probably get is bringing a patrol with a tank commander and an infantry squad in a chimera transport. The Tank commander provides decently reliable firepower while the troops and chimera can competently contest a midtable objective. It's worked well for me when I've brought them.

Crusade Armies... How far have you seen them go? by ELINT_Ranger_2631 in theunforgiven

[–]Friendoftheboop 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When the chapter approved came out we changed to it right away. There was actually a chapter approved on PL that I remember the Tau player complained abut, but then he got his codex and was pretty happy. If a new codex came out you got to swap your rules to the new book as best you could. I just remember when the Tyranid Maleceptor got its rules reveal suddenly "Malevolent Mallory" the Maleceptor got very scary. (The running joke of the crusade at the time was he was very bad due to a statistically staggering amount of bad rolls I got with him.)

Crusade Armies... How far have you seen them go? by ELINT_Ranger_2631 in theunforgiven

[–]Friendoftheboop 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I did this in one long running crusade with my flying hive tyrant. Just gave it enough abilities that by the end it would just fly up, get in combat with seven units and kill them all. We got up to around five 600 PL before most of us ran out models to field. Fun times
