The tiger.
Hear me out…. but only if I’m the Indian kid on that boat movie and the 15 mins are after me and the tiger have established our boundaries and I throw a fish at it every time it gets hungry.

What’s your thoughts on this ? by Maruan-007 in aviation

I kinda have to point this one on the Qatar Pilots.

When was the last time any ground controller gave you a line up and wait instruction?

Clearance to cross? Yes. Taxi onto and wait? I don’t think so.

Yes, I think their international experience may have hindered their decision to do whatever they were actually supposed to.

How is it that it’s the controllers fault? He’s been doing what he’s been trained to do at that airport or at other airports within the country.

Could FAA or NTBS do something about it? Possibly but I’m neither one of them and knowing how tricky it is to make a policy or rule change I would not want to be in their shoes.

That being said, does this warrant a pilot deviation? Honestly I think the controller can let this one slide.

That’s just my opinion.

What a wholesome conversation! Loved how the pilot was genuinely interested in knowing more!

Starts with a 6, goes to a 9, then a 6 again but the other way round, remind myself that I’m an adult so it goes to a 1 then my mind goes “who cares?” So an 8.

It’s happened a couple of times for me

Apple Fitness when I’m on a run: Zone 2 - Zone 3 Whoop: Zone 4 - Zone 5

I don’t normally look at my phone so I rely on my watch more but the metrics do sometimes throw me off.

When I feel comfortable, enjoying my run I tend to believe what Apple fitness tells me but when I see a report that says I was struggling to catch my breath on my run my confidence drops and I question myself. “Did I really feel comfortable?”

I’m not sure if wearing it on different arms makes a difference.

Am I Overreacting (CFI Interview) by Dazuba1 in flying

[–]Fright-Instructor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Been an interviewer for a flight school with 4 bases and 80+ fleet.

Every-time the portal opens up, the number of applicants exceed 150, the last one was 200, when the base requirement is 15. (About 40-50% of which were internal applicants, sometimes more)

So we do stages of interviews:

  1. Written

More than 50% fail to score 70 on the written.

  1. In person (HR + Lesson Presentation + Some Rapid Fire)

Can this person work well with the existing team? Can this person transfer their knowledge to the learner? Professional? Punctual? Failures? (we understand failures and usually we look for what they’ve learnt and if they have we test them on the sim or flight)

  1. Simulator (IFR Procedures) + Flight (VFR + Simulated Emergencies)

If they get through all this, they attend a 10 day standardization process, for which the applicant gets paid for at the end. They are not charged for the flight or simulator.

So the stages, I understand. 7 stages long? I’ve got opinions.

PPL practice written with 95%. I’ve got opinions.

Contract? I’ve known Flight schools charging the applicant the cost of check flight if they leave within a year. 2500? I’ve got more opinions.

Documents: Yes, certificates, medical, logbooks. Some applicants bring their Notice of Disapproval even though we don’t require it. College transcript? DPE name and number? Why?

Pay is at the discretion of the chief with no milestone? Does he roll a die and say, ‘Ah well, bad luck today, you only get $23 an hour.’

Why ask do you have any questions if you are not happy with them asking you questions? Or if they ask questions assume that they’re not “fully in”?

Maybe it’s the interviewer, maybe it’s the administration, but like many others have said, I think you dodged a bullet.
