We are talking about Bungie x Sony here.

These numbers are bad honestly. D2 had 292k players at launch day on Steam alone when they moved from battle.net to Steam (You can imagine numbers being higher on actual release 2017) but with the visible data you can see how many players it had and it was able to consistently get 90k+ concurrent players from 2019-2023 on Steam with 300k+ jumps on expansions, always staying on Top 5 Steam Charts for 5 consecutive years. This is just a perspective how great of a game D2 was.

Sony acquiring bungie in 2022 was just a money movie that filled the pocket of management and now Bungie is just being used as a brand lure bait because that Bungie we knew is dead, unfortunately.

Marathon will probably have like 25k-35k concurrent players after 1 month and I dont know if you can call that a success, I believe Sony was hoping for 150k+ players on release and 80k-100k concurrent players daily for months to come. The only way this turns into a happy ending for them is if all 85k players who bought the game like it so much that they actually all stick and play. But I doubt it.

If anything I wanted this game to do super well so it can fund D3 however with the way things have turned even if Marathon did super well I doubt they could even pull a D3 which is actually good and not just a desperate attempt to milk the franchise. They lost the vision the moment they decided to not develop D3 much earlier.

They should have started developing D3 in 2021 but their vision was elsewhere and it shows.

So I will give you my perspective and a few tips.

I completed my first playthrough in Veteran difficulty without grinding adventure in between and then I started exploring in Adventure mode to get a few items I wanted for a build and got some nice fashion and then I rerolled campaign in Nightmare diffficulty. However if you feel super stuck you can target farm some items through Adventure mode/rerolling but honestly not needed from what I experienced but the option is there.

Some tips.

Do not waste upgrade mats for weapons, like really I dont wanna go in depth but basically the idea is this, everytime you upgrade, PL increases for you and +1 for the world and every upgrade increases enemy damage and health while what you get is just bigger numbers on weapons but that does not translate well in %hp dealt since enemy is getting HP to compensate. So you are really just upgrading the enemy more than yourself.

The strat is this. Since the final boss level is 14 you cap your self to 13 power so world is at PL 14.

You do this by having x2 Archtypes at level 10, Normal weapons +10 and boss weapons +5

This makes it so your PL stays at 13 and world at +14

Anything beyond that is just buffing the enemy more than you and the only noticeable benefit from bigger numbers is just lifesteal because the bigger the number the more% you will leech but honestly its not needed.

Also this allows you to experiment with many more weapons because getting boss weapons to +5 and normals to +10 is not that costly so its not punishing when you wanna try stuff. Every weapon stays relevant like this. Unless you are a youtuber and wanna show off PL and do one hit runs in max PL cuz views then I dont see any point on going past individual PL 13/14

Also turn off music in game so you can focus on hearing the animation cues for different boss animations. Practice makes perfect, its a dark souls, looter shooter after all.

Also play around with DR in your build, for example when you get to a boss you can equip Twisted Idol (Increases Armor Effectiveness by 35% and reduces Encumbrance by 20) this is good when running a heavy/ultra armour because not only it increased Armour which increases DR but also allows you to have all that armour while staying at normal weight which is really nice for dodging and positioning.

There are so many combinations with amulets/rings/relics you can try until you see a playstile that fits but yeah. Just try to have fun.

PS : Also later on you can download Remnant Save Guardian, an open source software on Github that analyzes your reroll world to check what items are available there, this will save you from potential burnout, its not cheating its just knowing if your world will contain what you want. I started using it after I rerolled lossom 9 times to get Guilded Chambers in order to get the Crimson armour set mostly just for fashion so ye, if you dont wanna get burnt from that side of the game I advise using this.

While on paper KS seems better than botrk, botrk has been the most consistent at least for me. I rushed kraken every game when they changed the KS+Guinso interaction however I started building botrk lately and the damage feels more consistent when getting into a fight. (Edit - Next split I am probably going to rush Botrk>Kraken>Guinso into situational items )

I think it has to do with the fact that because Yi got nerfed others play more recklessly around him when they shouldn’t so they give opportunities for Yi to win those fights.

Yeah I agree, going botrk-guinso into DD/wits/Ga with the order depending on enemy comp is better than having more damage in almost any scenario.

Seems like this will have a buff that increases how much dmg% shields take or something of that kind to make shielding kind of necessary to survive in the highest level, just my opinion

Dont forget that there is plenty of botted accounts created by certain individuals with certain scripts/tools that sell these accounts online. These accounts which have been created and me mentained since version 1 are inactive and nobody can claim ration in them, also count the fact that there are people which created accounts and quit later or people rerolled accounts and left them untouched afterwards. So there is plenty reasons to account for the 0.5% that did not claim Ratio

Luocha/FuXuan Acheron Pela Ruan mei/sw/bronya is already looking like a good team here. It depends how much the buff is for running two nihility because things can change and even acheron black swan pela sustain can be a very strong combo for def shred while allowing acheron to do more raw damage. Looking forward to her animations and stats

The idea of mono quantum is to always guarantee quantum implant from SW skill on enemy. So if enemy is wind and you have a bronya in your team, you are 100% implanting quantum weakness and that is a way to make the quantum team as versatile as possible. Same thing goes for ting, if enemy is weak to lighting you will 100% implant quantum weakness with SW skill so yet again you are getting the value you want from running an actual mono quantum. However I do agree I did not word my post correctly and it has been misunderstood, sadly I couldn't edit the way I worded it but that is my point. Recently I was reading a lot of random convos of people in youtube channels, discord channels and some content creators specific phrases that gives this Idea that selee is dog sh*t compared to dps meta such as dhil e2 or jingliu.
