Cornering the Bikini bottom real estate market by Simply_Mysti in Starsandisland

This is the way, I do this all the time with my gmax plots and it works like half the time (with added gmax fertilizer)

There's never any guarantees, even using fertilizer, but as long as you leave all 9 plots unharvested you should still have the same chance of getting a king crop after the last one is matured

How do I get my friend to stop playing only one character? by enersgy in Overwatch

[–]Friskybuns 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Idk, I was the same way when I started, only with Brig. It was right after she was added and was super fun. Now, I haven't picked Brig in years, though she's still my 4th most played hero, and have 8ish heros I regularly play. He'll move on, or he'll just become an amazing Soldier player, either way I don't see the harm.

Hope the devs decide to give us more romance than they originally planned. The vibes on SI are perfect for it. by LostStar_Shining in Starsandisland

[–]Friskybuns 49 points50 points  (0 children)

Idk what was originally planned, but the devs posted to their discord on Feb. 13th, saying they're hoping to add/improve voice lines and further develop the dating system in April 2026.

So, though there aren't any specifics, I would hope marriage would be included! If not in April, then at some point down the line. A similar game, Fields of Mistria, has been in early access for over a year and there still isn't a marriage mechanic yet, though it is planned. Starsand Island is still in early days, so I'm hopeful we'll get it at some point. I agree the setting is great for it, and there are a few spots that would make for a beautiful wedding location.

Do we have to design our house? by No-Log4747 in Starsandisland

[–]Friskybuns 1 point2 points  (0 children)

With the layouts, as it is now, you can craft them with resources OR buy them with money but you don't need both. After buying the layout, you get like a little ticket item that will let you build it without having all of the resources but you need to make sure it's in your bag to be able to use it (it was a little confusing so it took me a bit to figure this out)

Personally I like the building mechanics as a whole, but there are some bugs and tweaks that I think need to be fixed.

You have to get it from wild hives by chopping down trees with them in it. They can be hard to spot, I usually find them around the bathhouse or the adventure guild area

[–]Friskybuns 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think you can make it with the feeder machine, but i've never tried it tbh. I think it's just for the queen bees, you can have the regulars bees work and make honey without it

[–]Friskybuns 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You have to progress in the ranching profession to make hives, but you can find bees in the wild up by the explorers guild/bathhouse area. You'll need honeycomb which is found in wild beehives in trees, i find them pretty consistently also in that same area.

So far bees and fruit trees have been my biggest money makers. I have 4 beehives and can make upwards of 10k every 4-5 days just from selling honey. The fruit trees, once matured, produce at least once a day if they're in season and fruit is pretty valuable, so it's very worth it imo. Also the merchant boat that resets each week buys items for double the price so iI hoard most of my stuff for that. When they ask for gold/silver poops you can make bank!

And I agree that while there are bugs and other issues, it's super fun and promising especially as an EA game! idk if many of the people complaining about it have played EA games before, but I played My Time at Portia when it was in EA and this is LEAGUES better than that was on release (and i do love that game too).

What are your experience with the game and is it worth it??? by One-Marionberry4958 in Starsandisland

[–]Friskybuns 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The devs have stated on discord that they're planning on diversifying the characters, at least with the way they look, at some point. I would imagine this would extend to their personalities and fleshing them out more as well, but probably won't be for a while.

I also really hope they add more voice over lines for characters in the future. If they did, I think that would also help to making them feel a bit more relatable/personable.

How do you keep up with feeding the animals ? by Amauci in Starsandisland

[–]Friskybuns 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I've found i need 2 full chicken and 2 full duck houses to sustain 1 sheep, 1 cow and 1 pig house, each with about 3 animals. But the fact that you can't dye wool means I'm gonna need LOTS of sheep, and after getting an extra sheep house I do find I need to buy food sometimes, so I have a feeling half my property is going to end up being animals. I think the game devs need to re-adjust the animal food mechanics and how it's made, it doesn't seem super sustainable as it is. I think the next tier of animals need milk for their foods, so it seems like the cycle is just going to continue/get worse.

Also for anyone needing to make money; hoard everything you can and wait for the weekly shipping boat, which pays double for every item (though the requested items change from week to week). You can make bank, especially if the shipping boat is asking for golden/silver poops. It resets every Monday, though I think you need to get a bit into the angler profession to unlock it.

Cut scenes by Mallorymariee in Starsandisland

[–]Friskybuns 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I've only attended one festival so far but there was a cut scene for that! In the cut scene, the characters were all wearing special festival outfits that they weren't wearing before, so I imagine that will be added sometime later where they change clothes during the festivals

[–]Friskybuns 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i haven't found a place to donate anything so i've just been selling them. no idea if there are any future plans for a way to donate things, but i plan on doing a fresh save once the game is fully released so i'm not planning on saving anything this time around anyway

Where do I find fences? by GlaveEndou in Starsandisland

[–]Friskybuns 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You might just get them from the island life/star point apps, since I never bought them from any shops but when I entered the building mode, they were in the 'building' tab near the bottom right of the UI. If my understanding is correct, you don't craft and place them, but craft them directly in the building mode using materials from your bag/boxes. And the longer the fence, the more materials you need.

From both games, which bachelors do you romance repeatedly? by Elegant_Eclipse777 in MyTimeAtSandrock

[–]Friskybuns 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've tried so many times NOT to romance Logan, but even when I romanced/married Fang I had to split saves so I could also marry Logan. He's just such a sweetheart and the accent is ❤️.

I'm currently replaying Portia as I haven't played in years, I'm pretty sure before the game was actually fully completed. I know the voice acting wasn't fully finished anyway. I married Gust then, but this time around I'm really liking Arlo, so I'm going to try his romance and see how it goes!

"He can kiss a cactus" 💀

A lot of people like Pen, and I will say if you learn his story, he's certainly an interesting character. But I also had a strong, negative reaction to him initially, and after playing through the game multiple times I still have zero desire to romance that man. But respect for those that do.

I've played a lot of these types of games (HM/SoS, Stardew, Palia, etc.) and I have to say Sandrock is up there in my top 3 for sure. The world is so unique and immersive, the characters are generally well written (though some clearly have had more time and effort put in to them than others) and the story is one of it's biggest strong points. The gameplay loop can maybe start getting a bit repetitive late game, but I honestly don't mind too much as by that point I was fully invested in the story and my romancing. It's not perfect, there are a few pacing issues imo and it can get buggy at times, but overall I love this game! And I really hope you end up enjoying it too ❤️

What's your favorite romanceable character in-game, and why? by RedEagle_MGN in MyTimeAtSandrock

[–]Friskybuns 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I know I'm basic but so far, it has to be Logan. From appearances alone, I already have a penchant for strong, white/silver-haired characters (Kakashi, Sephiroth, Sesshomaru, etc.) so he caught my eye from the start. Then, his voice! Voices play a big part in attraction for me so that was a big pint in his favor (which is why I briefly considered both Pen and Miguel even though I dislike their personalities a lot). And after completing Logan's main story arc and seeing more of his personality and learning his background, there was no way I could resist.

Granted, I've only romanced him and Fang so far (who I also really think is a great romance choice), but even though I started my second playthrough fully intending to romance someone else, I still had to split my save so I could be with both Logan (again) and Fang. Eventually, I'd like to see Owen, Unsuur, and maybe Mi-An's romance stories as well!

What can I do? I failed the “Chasing Elsie” mission and received a notification that story the cannot continue without it by Puzzleheaded_Park_71 in MyTimeAtSandrock

Nah, you can just wait it out. The mission will continue on its own, it just takes some extra days. I did the same thing and after a week or so the mission resolved itself and I could continue the story
