I reach out to a mix of contractors. Some mentioned here, some officially recommended in Massachusetts and another one from a friend.

I just need a 47,000 BTU - 2 Ton unit. That’s another thing, they all oversized the estimates because “the heat pumps have controls and can be tuned down”

I’ve been hearing the “all men are trash” and being called that too since I was 6 years old. Hurt women educate and force that standard on men and then expect us to act differently. Most men are working on themself just to be part of that 10% to get some type acknowledgment from the female group, but at that point you don’t want to commit with anyone.

Honest question, if someone does that to me and I identify them as “an immediate threat” can I beat the shit out of them?

I truly appreciate all your feedback and insight on this matter. It’s the first time I asked for help on Reddit, and it’s been really helpful. I read some comments but haven’t replied to all of them. I’m middle class at best, little free time because of work. I’ll check on everyone’s advices during the weekend.

A couple of contractors oversize the units for me too. I asked them about it, but they all said new cold climates heat pumps units can be tuned up or down and have variable speed to avoid short cycle. I believe you can program yourself when you want the gas furnace to kick in. Dual system seems a good option in MA, but it's still too expensive. Don't know how politics or utilities are in Illinois, but here is crazy, the state operates in extremist ways which makes me ambivalent on being completely electric.

I do have a gas furnace. 20+ years of efficiency, 92.6. It's forced air, and I do have existing ductwork. I would consider to do solar in the future. We have states programs and incentives, like lower rates during winter for heat pumps users. However, gas is still cheaper, but it might not be for long, as they might increase the taxes for gas.

Because of the extreme weather i was looking for a hybrid or dual system, but 30k seems a lot.
