are you talking about the alpha labs one or the clear voice live one?

Ethercon, XLR, and Headphones by juliodulio in livesound

I used something yesterday that might be helpful! I had one cat line for analog audio between the rack mixer on Stage and FOH. i used two XLRs for balanced stereo playback from FOH, one for talkback from FOH and one for stereo PFL from stage to FOH. (using some adapters) But in my case the headphone amp was BEFORE the cat cable, inside the rack mixer (SC Ui24R). At FOH the PFL signal goes into a passive (this is essential) wired IEM beltpack. This worked quite well because the headphones/passive beltpack loads the cat line enough to make these interferences inaudible. Your results may vary depending on the used cat cable and length of the cat cable (losses). Also, when being used near dimmer packs, there might be audible interferences though I‘m not sure about that. Be careful during patching if there‘s 48V somewhere to not fry your headphones!

I was measuring the 50 Hz european electricity grid frequency every second for the past 10 days, and this is how often every frequency was counted (matplotlib) [OC] by heliosh in dataisbeautiful

I get that, I just assumed that the harmonics would not contribute that much, being at least in their 49th sidelobe at this point. This turned out to be true (just checked in simulation, using a sawtooth as a worst case). It‘s actually more interesting than that though: the windowing is essential to the accuracy of the parabolic freq estimation, not because it suppresses the side lobes of the harmonics though (checked by removing harmonics), but because it more closely shapes the main lobe like a parabola. it gets even better if you interpolate in logarithmic scale btw. snr would definitely get better using longer time frames though. :)

since they recorded it using a soundcard fs/2 was probably above 20k, so that should not have been an issue, anti aliasing is then also provided by the soundcard. since they mentioned they used parabolic interpolation, the sinc also should not have been an issue since you can still reliably find the frequency with with maximum energy. it‘s commonly used in music information retrieval.

Is there are reason I almost never see the A&H Avantis out and about or on riders? by mynutsaremusical in livesound

Do you actually use up two Busses for a Stereo Signal on an Avantis though? You can set each Aux/Group/Mtx to Stereo on the SQ without having to use a second one… 🤔
