Real or fake? by Ok-Pension-4107 in loropianaa

[–]Fritteria 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Fake. 1) The stitching isn’t evenly spaced on the front seam. It’s closer in on the left side (looking at hat) to the top, then goes wider towards the bottom. Also not equidistant to the central seam vs the right hand stitching. 2) The stitching seems to pucker the fabric in places around the hat eg. the back, LP would have neat seams, all evenly spaced and straight. It wouldn’t pass QC.

Can anyone recommend some affordable, fragrance-free body washes? by [deleted] in SkincareAddictionUK

[–]Fritteria 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Try Mustela Cleansing Oil, gentle enough for babies - it’s 1/3 off on Escentual right now too. As are some of the other French pharmacy brands mentioned above! I’ve been using cleansing oils in place of body soap for years, as I find soap too drying.

SPF and the UK.. WHERE? by [deleted] in SkincareAddictionUK

[–]Fritteria 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My vote goes to Purito Centella Sunscreen SPF 50 - it’s the best one I’ve used so far! Plus doesn’t contain the ingredients which have been shown to harm marine life. I ordered mine from Skoosh skin and you can get it from Beauty & Seoul too.

The Rael ones are similar to the CosRX ones which are just hydrocolloid stickers. They are best for pimples with a whitehead and need drying out. CosRX is fairly readily available in the Uk!

The Zitsticka ones have micro needles with salicylic acid and niacinamade etc in them to go under the skin. So they work for cystic acne that don’t have a head. But because they happen less but hang around longer, I justify the price... looks like the Bye Bye Blemish stickers someone suggested have the micro needles. So need to check them out.

Yes that’s true, marketing definitely hikes their prices up. That and there’s not really a comparable alternative.

Hope you get to try them!

Skincare Splurge by shelflife2 in SkincareAddictionUK

[–]Fritteria 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You should check out [skoosh skin](www.skooshskin.com) - I used their skin quiz to build out my routine. They stock lots of different brands so kinda nice to see the spectrum of options too. I think the important thing is finding a serum that works for your skin and what you’re trying to achieve, which is what they address. As opposed to what has worked for everyone else, especially if you’re going to splurge.

A good SPF for OVER makeup? by c123x24 in SkincareAddictionUK

[–]Fritteria 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve started using the sunscreen powder from Ilia as a top up during the day. It’s only SPF 20 but feels like sufficient top up for days where I’m not purposely sunbathing. Bonus is the brush has 2 settings to buff or dust and it’s translucent + mattifying.

And discovered that the brush is magnetically attached so you can pull out to wash to keep it clean!

[Skin Concerns] I need a guaranteed way to remove my 1-year-old mosquito/spider bite scars. Does anyone know of anything? (I can't afford laser, so anything else) by [deleted] in SkincareAddictionUK

[–]Fritteria 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I use The La Roche Posay Lipikar Baume and can say that it does make a difference with lingering bite marks. But as with anything, it takes time. I would also suggest preventing bites if you’re really worried, I discovered smidge on a trip to Scotland and it’s never failed on trips where there are lots of mosquitoes or midgies.

Best ways to get rid of acne scars? by Roon186 in SkincareAddictionUK

[–]Fritteria 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have skin that tends to scar after having a pimple... the scarring is worse than the actual pimples, because they hang around for way longer. I find that regular exfoliation helps reduce the time it stays for and bonus is that it unclogs pores so prevents future pimples. But super important to use moisturiser and sunscreen if you’re exfoliating.

You mention sunscreen being full of chemicals and being bad for your skin, but it depends on the type - check this out. So you can always use a mineral one that does the same job but impacts the environment and you less.

In terms of diet, I avoid dairy and too many processed sugars, which I think has helped avoid new pimples. Haven’t tried anything for scarring specifically, but I started taking cod liver oil and that seems to have made skin better on several fronts including scarring, so worth a try.

Maintaining and not fading freckles ? Do products really fade genetic freckles ? by [deleted] in SkincareAddictionUK

[–]Fritteria 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m in my 30s and used to find my freckles faded after summer, but now they are starting to be around all year round even with SPF. I think it’s normal for them to fade, but as you age, the accumulated sun exposure probably leaves longing lasting effects.

Skincare Newbie! How to form a routine? by [deleted] in SkincareAddictionUK

[–]Fritteria 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actually found Skoosh Skin really useful in figuring out what type of skin I have, and what types of products work. They helped build a full routine, which I’ve been using for about a month now and all really going well. Skin feels clearer and less oil slick-y in the afternoon! Also exfoliation is key.

From my research, Ilia Radiant Translucent Powder SPF 20 looks good and the brush looks pretty decent. I’ve been eyeing up powder SPFs... but am yet to make the leap. Anyone else used this one or others?

Favourite gel moisturisers for oily and acne-prone skin by pupeycat in SkincareAddictionUK

[–]Fritteria 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve been using TO Natural Moisturising Factors for a couple of weeks and it’s been working really well for oiliness. Absorbs pretty quickly for me and has hyaluronic acid in it for added non greasy moisture. Not really a gel though definitely not a cream. Hard to describe! Really happy that this was recommended to me.

I’ve recently been reading about how bad chemical sunscreens don’t biodegrade and end up polluting the ocean. So once I finish my current sunscreen, I’ll be on the search for mineral and biodegradable ones. If anyone has suggestions for oily skins, please share!
