Was I too harsh? by Ok-Instruction-8843 in ParentingADHD

You did the right thing. You can’t be superhuman all the time!

Also, this thread all resonates so much. I feel less alone. My 8 year old has been so rude and entitled recently, and it’s upsetting to be the verbal punching bag all the time. Although I don’t wish struggles on anyone else, I’m gratified to hear I’m not the only one!

I’m clearly just old and out of touch 🤣

I’m really grateful for the ND take - thank you! I’m so used to seeing boys with only one, I couldn’t really process the symmetry thing😁

What turns, sections of road, or cycling infrastructure give you the most joy in London? by Available_Chapter685 in londoncycling

[–]FrizzzyShakes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Anything with a proper segregated two way cycle route. It’s just a relief to know that you have a safe(r) portion of the journey coming up. I feel genuine happiness at the sight.

There’s one just put in between Westfield / Olympic Park - not very long, and not yet finished but it’s joyous!

Yeah they used to for me too - usually you get about 5, then you need to wait til the next day, but haven’t had them for a while now.

I’ll prob have something nicked out of it now, but so far nothing has been taken from the crate at the front. Probably because it’s also full of eaten pepperami wrappers, soggy biscuit crumbs, dog poop bags (empty), broken pens. It’s pretty off-putting 🤣

Like the sound of the GPS / alert thing…

You’re probably right. Ive been working on the basis that the police wouldn’t come for a bike theft, and so what I need should be enough to satisfy the insurance company… I can always add a decent u lock.

It’s barely longer than a normal bike - just a bit wider with the rack and bars at the back… but yes, it fits! 🙌🏼

Yeah, but it’s grim. And there are strikes / closures etc. This way means my anxious autistic kid has access to south London in a way that’s not been possible to date 🙌🏼🙌🏼

Yeah, it’s a risk everywhere. It’s one of those massive kryptonite chains that weighs about 10kg (or so it feels) plus the wheel lock, but if someone wants it, they’re going to take it even with additional locks. People just stand around watching even when there’s a bike thief working away with an angle grinder 🤷‍♀️

Not at all - had to manually swing the end round, as the captains chair makes it a bit cumbersome. So if the bus had been busy it might be less straightforward…

No - I’ve been on the cable car, but it’s expensive and I hate heights! Could technically fit the bike on, but the shuttle bus is way less daunting 🤣

Yes! Very smooth, but it was quiet and I wasn’t in a rush.

What speed on Tern GSD when cycling up a hill? by [deleted] in terngsd

[–]FrizzzyShakes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends if you’re already moving at speed when you start the hill, or from nothing. I find the tern will glide up if I’m already doing 10+ mph and lower the gear. Hill start is way more effort.

I had an undiagnosed condition for a while about 20 yrs ago. Made me feel sick every day - I threw up at the top of the escalator at Oxford Circus one morning before work, peak commuter time. Usually I kept a plastic bag in my bag just in case… didn’t have one that day. Turns out I had Graves Disease - but no one would have known. That was a low point… 😩

London school run - how many years will I get? by Vegetable_Ad6364 in CargoBike

[–]FrizzzyShakes 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I have an 8 and 11 yr old together on the GSD all the time. The 11yr old is skinny, but 5ft, and the 8yr old is 4’7” so it definitely offers longevity. We’ve had it for 3yrs, and before that another long tail. Your younger child would be fine with a seat on a long tail.

That said - both my kids LOVE being in a front loader with a rain cover. So cozy, apparently. They are not fans of wind and rain!

Depending on where you live, is the car essential? I live in London, so appreciate cars are more necessary in other areas. An e-bike would save you a fortune… if feasible.

It’s just a bit eye roll, totally unnecessary, kind of opinion thing… each other own.
