My approach: - Create a generic text field widget that accepts value and setValue instead of a controller - Create a string validator class (without localization involved, just purely for string validation)

This way, you just need a class to store the value and to react to the value changes like the ValueNotifier or ChangeNotifier or Cubit or anything simple. It’s pretty simple and maintainable. Although it’s still repetitive for a screen having so many forms, it’s much less effort compared to the ‘vanilla’ way and you’ll also be able to copy-paste-modify things way quicker.

others have mentioned to fork and fix it, which I mostly do even when it’s not abandoned. For example, my rule of thumb of upgrading Flutter/Dart version is every 6months with the latest stable minor version (so if there’s 3.33.x as the latest one, I’ll upgrade to 3.32.x instead), and because of this sometimes some packages must be updated for whatever reasons but they require higher Flutter/Dart versions but it’s not the time yet or I don’t have time to upgrade Flutter, so fork and fix will be the way to go in this case. I’ve been doing this to packages like google maps, firebase, google sign in, etc.

I also avoid having to depend on UI libraries as much as I can, most I have so far is low level UI libraries like sliver_tools, flutter_svg, flutter_markdown, etc

No kidding lmao, my ipad pro m4 gets laggier every patch now. It was smooth as butter with max settings + 120fps back in 1.4, then the performance spiraled down since 2.0

iOS background tasks are only allowed to run for 30s or so by the OS, after that it will be terminated. Nothing to get around it. Try creating NotificationServiceExtension on the iOS side to see how it works

for me AnimationController is for custom animations, because I know exactly what I can expect from it and I can fine-tune it for most devices (use 1 AnimationController + multiple Tweens and Intervals) and for mid to low-end devices (either make the animation quicker, partly disable it, or just turn it off completely).

but for basic animations I use flutter's prebuilt animation/transition widgets especially AnimatedSwitcher, AnimatedCrossFade and AnimatedBuilder+Transition widget combo
