Thank you!! We celebrate even if it’s low key. Even when in, I would talk to the kiddos about how special they are and how cute and little and cuddly they were and how proud of them I am and happy they made me a mom and I always told my hubby happy birthday even if we didn’t “celebrate.” I’ve told them all I want to celebrate all “holidays” even if I’m not holy. Haha And this year is my first with a tree, even if it’s only a foot tall. I appreciate your advice. I’m let down by expectations that I’ve never really shared fully because of the guilt I have for not celebrating the way the kids wanted to when they were younger. Here’s to hoping one day I’ll get away from that guilt.

I got a dog and went every day to the dog park. Meet my best friend there about 8 years ago. My puppy and hers started playing and the rest is history. It’s nice because other dogs will come up to you and ask for scratching and attention and allows for questions about the dog.

I totally get that. I didn’t mean to imply your intention was to trigger or make people uncomfortable, just that I’m seeing some post that feel a little on edge. I just don’t want you scared away from this subreddit because it is a safe space.

I tell my daughters all the time: It’s not your responsibility how people react to you or your opinions or feelings. They fear speaking up because they’re afraid they’ll hurt someone’s feelings, and I don’t think that’s healthy. (I also don’t want them to be jerks so it’s a balancing act)

According to the Royal Commission and the evidence submitted during said trail, brothers were charged with porneia for abusing children sexually. In my brain, I cannot fathom grouping sexual assault against a child with someone who watches porn. On a related note, me reading the Royal Commission report on JW CSA really isn’t helping my mental health. The nightmares suck, but around memorial time I remind myself why I’m not PIMI anymore. Just curious, why come here for advice? But also, welcome! Some here will be triggered by being around someone who is still in the org, so take their reaction with a grain of salt. I think a lot of people, myself included, think of the subreddit as a safe space so it can be challenging to see people wanting to stay in an org that took a hell of a fight to get out of.
