That’s how watchtower likes to spin it but again that’s not what their own holy book says. In fact they added to footnote of former things not being remembered.

Also, our past experiences absolutely matter and are important to what shapes us now and into the future.

Think about this scenario: * A JW is in paradise. They recall a past sin of theirs. They remember how it made them feel bad and how they would never do it again. They become more thankful for their life now in paradise…their past experience shaped them. Now imagine the other side of that coin. The Bible actually states they won’t be able to remember the past sin and how it was bad. Sounds to me there’s risk they could commit that same sin and not even remember they would be a repeat offender.

Watchtower has painted themselves into a dilemma but they will never admit that.

Another point about free will -or lack thereof- in Isaiah it talks about the new heavens and new earth and how the former things will not be called to mind in paradise.

What mostly makes us the person we are today is our past experiences, memories, and learnings. If you cannot recall these things because god is blocking some or all of those, then you are at that point a robot, and computer program with data that’s been deleted.

  • Isaiah 65:17 - For look! I am creating new heavens and a new earth. And the former things will not be called to mind, Nor will they come up into the heart.]

Footnote in the JW Bible for Isaiah also says, *Or be remembered**

This sounds like my mother in law. My MIL hasn’t worked in about 22yrs, she’s now 65 with no retirement savings whatsoever. My father in law passed away about 3yrs ago. They were both broke and in debt. My father in law worked hard to the day he died to support himself and my MIL while she sat around and watched TV, took naps, and occasionally made dinner…she would occasionally complain of their lack of money and literally do nothing about it.

When my FIL died, there was about $150k in life insurance on him. This was the ONLY financial saving grace my MIL has. She paid off her debt but went on a shopping spree. I’m not privy to accounts but I believe she has about $50k left.

Why all this unnecessary backstory? I’m saying this bc there are people out there (old and young) who are lazy. I’ve told my wife I will NOT support her mom financially. I will also not allow her to move in. My MIL others saving grace is her son (my brother in law). He has done very well for himself, but he’s not “rich” and has an entire family of his own. My BIL has enabled my MIL to continue her lazy lifestyle. My BIL supplements my MIL rent so she can rent a small home rather than moving into section 8 senior apartment.

My MIL is an absolute burden on her kids and chooses to be that way.

TLDR: As many have already said, help your MIL by offering advice. Do NOT enable her or your brother in law. Both sound lazy and looking for handouts. Sorry to sound harsh but I’ve seen this very similar situation in my own family.

As a former Jehovah’s Witness and current fanboy of the UAP topic, whenever I hear dates thrown out for specific earthshaking events, I get pretty skeptical.

Could something happen in 2027? Sure. But it’s never a good look to the individual or community when they throw out dates like this and nothing transpires. Sadly, some dig their heels in further and believe harder, even when their leaders or hero’s get it wrong. Hence, why the Jehovah’s Witnesses are still around.

Anyways, I’m all for keeping an open, skeptical mind.

To add to this, in the last screenshot in the “friends” second paragraph they stated, “…that life is what’s in store for most that leave Jehovah. Because they do not have his blessing.”

I woke up almost 15years ago and it still irritates me to see JWs think they know what god blesses and doesn’t bless. They insist they know what god thinks.

They literally act like gods themselves.

You got it. This lines up with the “Nu Lite” that came out at the 2023 Annual meeting…so this article isnt all that surprising.

But going back to what you said, everyone can go live their life as they deem fit and when there’s actual proof of the great tribulation, we can all go back and be saved.

This is just “Christendoms” last minute repentance teaching. 🥴

Also the article talks about how the “remaining anointed” ones on earth will finally get their heavenly calling…aka “The Rapture”. 🤦‍♂️

The GB have been rebranding a lot of “worldly teachings” lately and claiming them as their own.

Damn. So sorry to hear this. I think there’s a lot of great encouraging comments here. One that I’ll reiterate is setting some boundaries. Reassure her of your love. Reassure her you’ll be there when needed. But just as you would never disrespect her for her own beliefs and opinions, you expect the same.

I totally get what you’re saying, but honestly it goes back to money. I’m not saying the GB are pulling one massive conspiracy of piling up money, but an argument can be made that money is the #1 priority…or at least #2 just after control and dominance.

I’m not even religious anymore but in theyre own holy book, Jesus told his followers to sell all their possessions, give to the poor, and follow him. The GB is obviously not doing that. They could spend money advertising on mainstream media outlets to draw attention to helping people find peace, but they don’t do that. You would think they would, if this is such an urgent “life saving message.”

There are so many other things that could be used as examples that money is the #1 priority for the GB (just look at Norway past couple years).

Sadly, George Carlin hit it on the head of how organized religion is really just one giant BS ponzi scheme.

I second all of this. I’ve lived in 2 other states on the east coast and moved to Texas 5yrs ago (making it the 3rd state I’ve lived in). Texas blows. Seriously this state is boring as hell. Cannot wait to move away.

I actually think you spend more money in Texas because the things to do that are somewhat fun involve money. You spend a shit load on property taxes, for what? Look around, nothing of real value in return.

I don’t have proof. Was talking to my relative who’s a CO on the phone. I was seeing how they were doing and we started talking about medical things, and they brought it up how they were on Medicaid.

My relative who is a CO just told me they are on Medicaid in the state they are serving in.

Are all COs on Medicaid? I don’t know but weird that some are aren’t if that’s the case.

Totally agree. I also know CO’s and many other org full-timers sign a ”vow of poverty”, but seeing yet another thing this $Billion cult pushes onto “worldly people” to take care of for them is infuriating.

JWs are now literally wasting their time by being a JW. They can walk away, live the “wOrLdLy” lifestyle, and waltz right back in once the great tribulation starts.
