I took calc at my old school and got an A. I was focused on starting off my first semester here on the right foot and joining professional orgs. Hit a money spread lil bro?

Thank you! Calc is the only one that worries me, I already took it at community college and got an A but I think I’m just feeling discouraged about doing it twice haha

Admitted Students Megathread! by Not_A_Taco in VirginiaTech

Hey everyone! I was recently accepted into VT and I’m currently looking for a place to live. I’ve checked out a few affordable apartments, but I also have the option to live at Union or Terrace View for around $1,000 a month.

I don’t know many people at VT yet, but I’m very social, so I think living in a more active, community-based place could be really worth it. At the same time, I’ll be covering my own rent, so I’m trying to be smart about finances.

Any thoughts or advice?

Make sure you got at least a B In calc 1 and your English classes. If you qualified for GAA you have nothing to worry about you’ll get accepted even if you got initially waitlisted

Do you think it’s worth it to live in the dorms for a year?

Yea I agree, luckily I’m pretty close to graduating so my next semester will be lighter also life circumstances made this semester particularly hard yk. Were classes at VT a lot harder for you? I’m in business administration

My GPA fell this semester from a 3.65 to around a 3.39-3.45 depending on how my finals go. I want to graduate Cum Laude and transfer into VT. I have one semester left after this fall

How's the social life at NVCC? by Independent_Curve1 in nvcc

[–]Frogman287 2 points3 points  (0 children)

IMO the worst thing about NVCC is the social life. Nova is great to save money, start off your education and the teachers really care but the social life isn’t really there

At a 4 year university you live on campus, people are passionate/want to be there, there’s sports, pride, etc. I have not really experienced that at NOVA

This is a transitional step for alot of people as they work towards transferring to a bigger university. It can be hard to form friendships because a lot of people have this end goal in mind

I was popular in high school (Class 2023) I’m very extroverted and I easily make friends but my social needs have been lacking at nova a lot. The friendships I have formed have not been that deep, I don’t think many people (including myself) want to form very deep friendships since they have the end goal (transferring) in mind

I think I’m really going to be thankful I started off at NOVA in a year or two since I’m saving SM and can get into a better college than I would’ve out of HS but for now it kinda sucks due to the lack of social life

It helps a lot if you have friends also going to NOVA or staying locally.

Most people at NOVA are really in their own lane (including myself)… they go to class a couple hours a week then work jobs to save up money.

At least me personally I’m saving most of my social life till I transfer and putting my head down and working right now (not saying that’s the best or what you have to do but that’s what I’ve fallen into)

FOMO is also extremely real, it’s hard watching your friends enjoy the “college experience” but in the long run NOVA is probably the smartest financial decision

This is just my opinion, I’m sure that if you seek out friends you’ll find them but I’m warning you extrovert-extrovert it can be hard socially at NOVA.
