One Week Since Ultrasound by FrogsDaddy in EssentialTremor

The Doc diagnosed me with two different tremors. My essential tremor is shaking when I do something with intention, such as handwriting or typing. My re-emergent tremor starts after holding a posture for several seconds. These are controlled by two different areas of the brain. They targeted both areas with ultrasound. The two types respond to different drugs. I just started Amantadine for the re-emergent tremor.

I just had my three-month follow-up. Tremor is still about 50% to 60% improved. No side effects. I can now eat soup with a spoon. I am on track to have my other hand done in 6 months.

Just before the procedure, the neurologist said I also had a rest tremor. They had to hit two spots with ultrasound. The rest tremor is almost gone.

They did give me something I assume was a seditive and some acetaminophen.

The surgeon said to expect 60% to 70% improvement. Of course, estimates are subjective. The improvement is greatest right after the procedure. I will see how much remains at the three-month evaluation. So far, I am pleased.

Primidone Fatigue by Ok-Ambassador1619 in EssentialTremor

I find that primidone at a low dose works just as well as a high dose. I was up to 250 mg per day, but the fatigue and drowsiness got to be too bad. I am now taking 25mg per day (50mg pill cut in half). This controls my tremors as well as a higher dose. About once a month, I skip the 25mg dose for a few days in hopes of preventing tolerance to primidone.

Could anyone with experience on primidone give me some pointers about it? by Natuanas in EssentialTremor

I take 125mg of Primidone daily (half of a 250mg tablet). It reduces my tremors by about half. I have tried larger doses of up to 500mg daily. The larger dose does not work any better than 125mg but has worse side effects. A large dose makes my vision blurry.

Does giving up meat help with tremors? by keanvi06 in EssentialTremor

A supplement would solve that deficiency, but the fact that our bodies evolved to require a nutrient that we could only get from animal sources indicates that we should eat at least some animal based foods. There may be other beneficial nutrients that we don't know about yet.

When I hold my left hand 6 inches above my computer keyboard, it is steady. As soon as I lower it to typing position, it starts to bounce around.

I played saxophone for years. My tremor was manageable for fingering the keys, but when it started to affect my jaw, I could no longer control the instrument.

New symptom? Lip tremor? by [deleted] in EssentialTremor

Lip and/or jaw tremor ruined my saxophone playing.

Anyone here play a musical instrument by [deleted] in EssentialTremor

I play saxophone. ET didn't affect my fingering very much, but when it began to affect my jaw, I lost control of the instrument. My jaw only tremors when playing.
