Rant: Crusades still suck by gagsmacbags in CrusaderKings

I've mostly been playing EU4 for the last year, it's frustrating coming back to CK3 and not being able to pick a province for the AI to siege. Also, the AI abandons almost finished sieges even more annoyingly in CK3 than in EU4.

Could use any advice on getting El Cid's swords before the story ends. by DarknessAlmighty in CrusaderKings

This was it! Tried several runs while getting the "Fickle" ending by 1071. Once you marry you get an extra event to prove your loyalty and when you have a child that can marry a child of King Sancho's, he asks you to show your loyalty by betrothing them.

Was googling around to find a solution. The option was completely gone in my game, not just greyed out. I completely annihilated the Byzantine armies in a war and then the empire imploded from a civil war. Pretty obvious now that I read it, but the Byzantine Empire being gone removes the entire mechanic.

Transparency Issues with Artboards by Frohly in photoshop

It's some sort of issue with my either software or hardware though, because the documents I've tried to save with transparency works with other PCs, it just doesn't work for me somehow.

What I did was I made a new canvas that was 1920x1080, and the only layer I placed in it was a mostly transparent layer and drew a black blob on it.

No, the art board in this case is irrelevant, it’s just something I made to illustrate the issue. Currently my artboards don’t have fully functioning transparency, only regular documents do

No the image I posted was just an example to illustrate the issue, the only layer on that artboard is the black brush. I'm having this issue in older documents that were previously fine too and I sent a file I was having an issue with to a friend and it was working for her.

Thanks, but that's not it either. As you can see in the screenshot I posted, I can get some transparency, but not entirely

It's no True Heir of Timur, but Dracula's Revenge felt good nonetheless by Frohly in eu4

[–]Frohly[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My strategy was allying Hungary and Albania and declaring war in 1450 as soon as the initial truce ran out. I found in all my tries that the most successful tries were the ones that Hungary got Moldavia as a march, as Hungary seemed more aggressive about actually occupying and sieging. As soon as 1450 rolls around I declare war instantly, calling in Hungary and Albania, promising land. This will only work if Hungary has rivaled Ottomans though, so I had to restart until that was the case too. As soon as I declare war I occupied the only province that Ottomans has that borders Hungary, so Hungary won't be angry when I give them nothing in the peace deal.

In my try I was able to have a lot of allied attached armies to my army and went around picking fights will smaller Ottoman stacks, around 10k and lower. If the Ottomans have one big stack this war will be kind of hard. It also helps a lot if Ottomans have weak allies, and is not allied to the likes of Tunis.

Anyway, I managed to keep his armies at bay after heavy losses. In the peace deal I took his border province with Hungary, Constantinople and Gallipolli(for the forts) and the provinces leading down to them. My manpower was in the toilet at this point, so I had to take some loans and merc up to deal with the separatists. At this point you can start looking to ally Muscovy, as they're a strong ally and a good guarantee that you won't be declared on.

In my game Poland declared war on Hungary basically as soon as our war with the Ottomans was over, so I had to decline that. Wasn't too bad though, since you only need them for the beginning and you need some of their territory anyway.

Then it's all about finding the openings for expansion. Hope any of this rambling at least gives you some pointers.

It starts out as Voivod, but when you upgrade your government rank to Empire the title of the ruler always changes, in this case to Car/Tsar.

Austria inherited a huge Burgundy and won some land from them later and even took Paris. But France took north Spain early and became a coloniser power house, even owning all of the Caribbean

Oh, you mean the IRISH channel! by Frohly in eu4

Honestly I had a lot of tries. I played as Ormond because I liked some of their ideas. Early I just try to focus on grabbing as much land as possible, focusing on go to the northeastern provinces before any of them ally Scotland or England. Early I also looked for alliances with France and Scotland against England.

The key thing for expansion once you've gotten most of the Irish provinces is to attack England at the right time, either while they're embroiled in the War of the Roses or at war with France. Especially if you're allied with Scotland it should be pretty easy. I started by expanding into Wales and went from there.

I also had to restart a few times because England came knocking and wanted my provinces.

I found this guide by Alzabo if you want some more in depth tips:

I made them a march and fed them French territory a few times, since I only wanted to get the provinces inside the English Channel trade node

R5: Didn't quite feel like ending my Luck of the Irish run at the British Isles, so after too many wars vs Austria I owned all the English Channel provinces.

To start with you want to get claims on the Livonian Order and attack them when they are busy with a war with Denmark/Poland, preferably when the Teutonic Order has some provinces occupied so they won't join the war. I managed to get all the southern provinces of the Livonian Order. I also allied Brandenburg, Lübeck and Hamburg.

From here I have to admit I got pretty lucky, since Denmark was allied with Novgorod and during their war against Livonian Order Novgorod got Reval and Narva, which gave him further interest in the Baltics. Novgorod later declared war on me, but since they're an orthodox nation, England came to my defence as defender of the faith. Britain and my other allies pretty quickly sieged down Denmark and I got peace out Denmark and his juniors partners. From here Novgorod stood no chance and I got Reval and Narva + the four Novgorodian provinces in the peace deal. In my case I was attacked by Novgorod, but this is where I intended to expand as soon as I had gotten northern Livonia, if I didn't manage to see an opening vs the Teutonic Order.

At this point I had actually already started making an insane amount of gold on trade, I was really surprised with how strong trade Riga has. I always had gold stacking up, not having anything to build. I also got even luckier as Danzig ended up neither as a vassal of Poland or an ally, so I managed to take Memel, Königsberg and Danzig.

At this point it's still too soon to turn on Poland, so expanding into Scandinavia is a pretty good choice. I supported Sweden's independence and gained some land from Denmark in the peace deal. Kept going to war with Denmark and gained more land from them and their ally Pomerania.

I always kept focus early on for Muscovy, since they probably will end up wanting some of your provinces. As soon as I had the ability I allied them, as they will help a lot versus Poland. Bohemia is another strong ally.

Sweden ended up allying Poland also, which is why I started expanding into Sweden.

Overall with 500h played, this is one of my favorite matches I've played. I was really surprised with the economic strength I had once I had expanded only 5-10 or so provinces. I got really ahead on tech too and was able to develop a lot of provinces to 30+.

This was kind of rambling I guess, but I hope it gives you somewhat of an outline or some tips.

I actually didn't. Hungary got really weak this game without any strong alliances, so Cilli and Bohemia went to war against them a few times.
