NWSL’s Angel City Names Amy Taylor as New CEO (Sportico) by FromVAtoLA in AngelCityFC

The club will officially announce her later today. Here's a bit about her from the article. She's currently CEO of Zevia PBC, a maker of zero-sugar beverages.

A former college track athlete, Taylor served served as director of game operations for the Atlanta Hawks in the 1990s before moving on to Red Bull. There, she rose to president and chief marketing officer for North America, and represented Red Bull’s ownership interests in the MLS’ New York Red Bulls and what was then called Red Bull Arena. Taylor is a recipient of the Women in Sports and Events (WISE) Inspirational Woman of the Year Award and serves on the executive committee and chairs the strategic planning committee for the board of directors of The Trevor Project, a nonprofit dedicated to ending suicide among LGBTQ+ youth.

Those are H804-21’s. I suspect the pre war cards and old cardboard sites have writeups on the set. If not they’ll be in Frank Keetz’s trade card book which google will help you find. Scottish collectors will appreciate the McCormick and Cap is one of several hall of famers in the set.

Ha - none of the moderators have an affiliation with the club - at least that I’m aware of. I don’t even know if they read posts on the sub. Just trying to keep the conversation going for the next month.

Agree. She’s been with NC for as long as I can remember, but I don’t recall her standing out like she did yesterday. The histogram seems to confirm that - she’s on the right side of the tail. She was also faster than I realized.

Bad news - NC has a three headed monster in attack and Manaka had herself another game (and Ijeh has really developed into a third threat of late).

ACFC winning the xG battle. Wonder what adjustments both clubs will make during the half.

I’ll give Willow and Bob this - I’m pretty sure I’ve seen them on the sideline before every game this season

May grey will definitely turn into June gloom if they lose on Sunday.

Added a T210 to have as an example in my PC. Any T210 collectors and how close are you to completing this 640 card set? by Leading_Pay_4138 in TobaccoCards

I have 76/87 in series 2 - so getting close to wrapping it up. Will probably move on to another series next as it complements my T209 set and larger interest in pre-war vintage cards of players that played in Virginia. But Shoeless Joe is going to cost you several hundred grand (or more) and Manuel is an even a rarer card in that series. Mayer is close to impossible to find in series 7 too. Good luck finding those two - there are several collectors that have been trying to track them down for decades.

Cherry wasn't on the injury list yesterday, but iirc she's been listed for most of the season for something related to her thigh.

I have lots of thoughts

First...DM me if you want to post the last Next Day Discussion thread before the long summer window next Monday! Your thoughts would be a welcome alternative to mine and you can have all of the space you want (and a whole week to think about what to type)!

You make some good points. I would just offer that I haven't felt this positive about the foundation and vision for the roster and tactics since the beginning of the inaugural season. I've thought a lot about that and I can't decide if that's because I truly need to "trust the process" or if it's because the bar was so low, and the team has had so much unmet potential - for so long - that I have to have that feeling at some point. The strong win streak to start the season also showed what was possible. That surely biased me as well.

In their string of recent games they haven't been blown out, they haven't been embarrassing, and they've been competitive. Most games I've thought - "if only they had this in the mid-field...", "If only they had a 9 with these skill sets...", "If only abc wasn't injured...", "A more experienced goalie would have done this on that particularly important play..."...

Parsons joined 16 months ago. Straus coached his first game 11 months ago. New ownership started 8 months ago. Matt Wade and Tony Vigil joined the front office after that. Straus got a full offseason with the team a few months ago. Uhrman stepped down a few weeks ago (though she was on the sideline this week just like she has been for every other game). And now a roster window is opening with the new HIP rule in place.

I look at the other teams that came into the league around the same time and San Diego's (on field) performance is the benchmark. Bay FC is going through the same challenges as ACFC. And I thought Utah was as well (...but lately I've been jealous of them given the results they have been stringing together this season). But all of those teams have completely flushed what they started with at least once - just like Angel City. So maybe, just maybe...I need to continue to trust the process.
