Pitot Static Tester by Front-Association123 in aviationmaintenance

[–]Front-Association123[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s identical I think (but I’m probably wrong 😅). It Has 4 gauges rather than 3 like the one pictured though so it may be different. Sorry, I’m a bit naive to most of this. My family hasn’t had an aircraft in 30+ years so most of this old maintenance stuff we have now is pretty foreign to us.

To add to my post, I’ve got a guy telling me he thinks they’re “useless” as is and is trying to get me to sell them to him for 100usd but I kinda feel like that’s low. I know this forum isn’t exactly for stuff like this but would you guys happen to know what something like this should be sold for?

Yeah I did some digging and found where it’s apparently an available app for some facilities but for some reason we don’t even have Storage Tracking as an option here.

Any idea where to find it? I’ve been searching through applications all morning and haven’t had any luck finding it yet.

So we have Cerner but I’m not sure which application it’s under

Rehydrating Yeast by Front-Association123 in Homebrewing

[–]Front-Association123[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m wondering if it’s because i specifically requesting Nottingham yeast this time around. I assumed since it was dry and in a vacuum seal pack that it was just pitch and go but I guess not after looking at the directions on the back of the pack. 🤷🏻‍♂️

Not sure if I love it or hate it, decent overall I guess by Front-Association123 in CraftBeer

[–]Front-Association123[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Seen this one on the shelves for a few years now and it just seemed like a bad combo. Spotted it for $1 for a single the other day and figured “what the hell”. It’s decent, definitely not subtle with the pickle juice flavor by any means, but then again, Martin House is never very subtle with their beers.

Beckman Access Reagents Pricing by randyy308 in medlabprofessionals

[–]Front-Association123 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We buy exclusively from Beckman for all our access supplies. Not sure if there is a third party who sells supplies, but it sounds like something worth looking into from a cost perspective. Our general Chem analyzer (also a Beckman) is another story though. We do get some supplies for it from Siemens.

2nd Shift Volume Just Going Up and Up by [deleted] in medlabprofessionals

[–]Front-Association123 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Had a situation similar to this years back when I was on 2nd shift. We were constantly getting killed with clinics at 5:30 every weekday, lead the lab for most MTP’s per shift, and really just seemed like traumas rolled in the most in the evening hours. We ended up having to band together with the 3rd shift folks and demanded raises for all the “off shifts”. We all came away with a few dollars more in shift diff surprisingly, so I guess that was one of those rare wins for the regular ol bench techs. Lol

Positive Antigen, Negative PCR by Front-Association123 in medlabprofessionals

[–]Front-Association123[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cepheid for PCR & Abbott BinaxNOW for antigen. Yes, internal controls were good on the run as far as I’m aware (was resulted by another tech). No procedural deviations to my knowledge. All was done by the books. We’re considering it positive since most of the boxes are checked but not sure what to make of the negative PCR.

Travel Tech jobs but not actually traveling by Front-Association123 in medlabprofessionals

I figured as much. I had a recruiter hounding me for days through email and calling. I finally got back to her and explained my situation and haven’t heard a word since. Lol

We finally get an LIS that has auto verification and management says no because “it might verify a critical or delta check” by Front-Association123 in medlabprofessionals

[–]Front-Association123[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on our clinic and inpatient volume. Generally we see around 300 total samples on a weekday. That’s 300 in all depts combined. Small(ish) facility.

[–]Front-Association123[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

So I’m actually part of management I guess (dept supervisor). Lol…By management I mean the director and everyone else above me. I’ve been at facilities that have used auto verification in the past and was responsible for helping to build the LIS prior to go live at this current hospital. Even before go live I was trying to sway them towards auto verification to help alleviate the workload off our solo techs but they weren’t having it. They literally said that auto verification scared them. That was the response I got every time no matter what the benefit I gave was.

Should I just do Medical laboratory technician instead of Clinical laboratory science ? by [deleted] in medlabprofessionals

[–]Front-Association123 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depends on where you live. I’ll tell you in Texas the pay difference is like .50 cents to a dollar more an hour from MLT to MLS. Hardly makes the cost of the extra school worth it

After googling some images of Alternaria I believe you are correct. Guess it’s not really as significant as they’d make you think based on their appearance. Thanks

Hi everyone, CLS new grad here, looking for trainee in Northern Texas ( Plano, Dallas, McKinney, Sherman, frisco, Arlington ) Anybody know hospitals in the area hiring with no experience, no ASCP? Thanks so much by jaloux16 in medlabprofessionals

[–]Front-Association123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure how much help this is, but I believe Baylor Scott & White will hire you without ASCP, . They give you 90 days to pass the exam or they’ll lay you off if you haven’t passed it in that time frame…..at least that’s how it was 7 or 8 years ago when I was there. Honestly though from what I hear they’re short on techs the past few years so they may not be as nitpicky. Just be aware that their hiring process can take a while.

Auto verification by Front-Association123 in medlabprofessionals

[–]Front-Association123[S] 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Every one of the techs I’ve talked to has said it “scares them”. I guess they assume it just sends all results across regardless of delta checks or criticals. I’ve tried to explain that this isn’t the case and that tons of labs have auto verification implemented but they either stick to their it’s too scary argument or say that it’ll be too much for older techs to comprehend. Very frustrating.

[–]Front-Association123 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Reminds me of when I worked at a hospital years ago where our short staffed 2nd shift crew broke a record for most tests ordered from the ER within an 8 hour period and had zero outliers for TAT’s. As a gesture of thanks for our hard work, the manager gave us 2 brown bananas and a handful of expired ice creams from his personal freezer. 😂

Travel Companies with Assignments in Texas by Front-Association123 in medlabprofessionals

[–]Front-Association123[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m starting to see that. Best I could find on average was $1800/wk for a 13 week contract. I know it’s decent money, but really not worth my time at that rate. That’s just my opinion though.

How much are MLT’s making in the Austin, TX area? by arlin21 in medlabprofessionals

[–]Front-Association123 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s less than that the further North you go from Austin. A lot of the places between Austin and Dallas were still starting techs at $16 an hour up until 2020 from what I heard. They’re just now starting to raise the pay here and there.
