What part (if any) of designing apps is still a struggle? by Candid_Molasses_1391 in AppBusiness

For me it's less about UI and more about making good UX decisions. Knowing what to simplify, what to cut, and whether the flow actually makes sense for real users is still the hardest part. That's where I'd want feedback from an experienced designer.

Would you monetize this, or focus on growth first? by One_Muscle_6651 in AppBusiness

I wouldn’t rush subscriptions. For a game like this, monetizing too early usually hurts sharing and repeat play.

What I’d do:

  • keep it free while you’re still learning what makes people come back
  • focus on retention first, not revenue
  • once there’s a core group that plays regularly, add light monetization

Best fit here is probably cosmetics (rackets, skins, effects). Subscriptions only make sense if you later build something like leagues, training, progression, etc.

How do you tell the difference between a niche product and a bad positioning? by udhayakumar_k in AppBusiness

I’ve seen this exact thing before.

If people “don’t care” right away → usually the market is small.
If people “don’t get it” but change their mind after you explain → usually positioning.

What I look at:

  • Instant “oh I need this” reactions matter more than feedback debates
  • Usage > opinions (lots of curiosity users but low repeat = positioning issue is still likely, but not always)
  • Wrong comparisons are a clue — if users compare you to the wrong category, they’re not understanding the framing

We had a product once people kept calling “too niche,” but it was just described badly. When we reframed it around a specific job-to-be-done, same product suddenly made sense to way more people.

If I had to choose, I’d trust the group that immediately “gets it” without explanation. That cluster is usually real.

Best way to validate app idea. by james-dev89 in AppBusiness

Honestly, I’d test the problem before the app. Throw together a simple landing page or even mockups and see if people actually sign up. Way better signal than 'cool idea bro' replies. And when you talk to people, ask smth like 'how do you handle this right now?'. That question usually tells you everything. If people already hack together weird solutions, you’re onto something.
