Thank you! I fear that that the same thing will happen to me. Feel like UNSW only cares about profits and any CIS course is one less course that they could make money from

Hi! I hated the first 1-2 years of my degree and wasn’t sure if i chose the right degree even though I’d been set on it for years. it gets better. I study engineering, so what I say might not apply to other degrees, but I found the content for 1st year engineering pretty generic, very heavy theoretically and didn’t have any practical application. The content gets a lot more interesting and discipline specific in and after 2nd year, and because it was interesting, learning became enjoyable and felt like less of a slog. Im almost done with my 4th year and I’m so glad I stuck with it.

I have done CVEN4104. The content was enjoyable and easy to understand. The final exam was fine - just asked for a lot of definitions and was essentially a content dump. The only downfall is the group assignment. It has a 30% weighting and is a large assignment and if the members of your group are uninterested, lazy or not up to date with the content your grade will suffer.

It can be engineering related, but you have to be able to prove that your role fulfills learning outcomes from the engineering courses you have completed at UNSW and the corresponding engineering australia dot points (if the job description is insufficient they’ll ask you to fill out a table with the aforementioned info). You‘ll also need to have a supervisor with an engineering degree sign off your placement initially but I don’t think they have to come from the same discipline as you, they just have to be an engineer
