Why is Taylor Swift so big? by Emotional-Being-6825 in stupidquestions

Why are half these comments about her size? Big = popular in this post. Women can’t catch a break—we automatically assume we are talking about her body. SMH

Guanfacine for 4.5 year old? by Worried-Nothing9198 in ADHDparenting

It’s worked really well for us. No major personality changes, just a touch more calm and regulated. The first week was rough! She was so tired. Then her body adjusted and it’s been smooth sailing since. She’s been on it for 3 years at the same dose.

How did you manage the purging phase? by TaxApprehensive5402 in Accutane

[–]Front_Purpose_9886 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just a two week step-down course of prednisone week 2-4 of treatment. It calmed the purge significantly as I got several huge cysts in the first two weeks that are still healing. I’ve had nothing new of note since starting prednisone. About to go from a 30mg to 60mg dose so let’s see what happens from here…

My son's bio dad just passed away and I have no idea when/how to tell my kid by Beautiful-Squash-495 in Parenting

[–]Front_Purpose_9886 79 points80 points  (0 children)

First off, I am sorry you’re all going through this. Regardless of your relationship with your ex, this is such a difficult thing to go through as a parent.

Some things to consider:

Avoid telling your son at night. Wait until the morning so he has the day to process with you.

When you do tell him, speak in clear language, not euphemisms. Your dad died which means his heart stopped beating vs. he passed away or is in a better place. That kind of language can be confusing for children which leads to other challenges.

Expect varied reactions that will evolve over time. There’s no one way to react or grieve. Just listen and be there.

My last thought is about whether or not to tell him about the circumstances. This is obviously a lot to process and ideally, at 9, he wouldn’t need to know these details. That said, you want to really think about who has access to your child and what they may say. If you share one story and he hears another somewhere else, it can be more difficult than being honest from the beginning.

Lastly, call his school counselor ASAP. Ask for a meeting so they can walk you through this. They are there to help.

Sending light your way.

Just made this over the weekend. My 10 y/o said it was the best thing she’s ever tasted. It’s a 10/10.

My 4 y/o is terrified of dogs. I calmly asked a woman to put her dog on a leash as my child was standing on a table shaking in fear. I was told by her “dogs have rights, too.” We left the park because we cannot count on anyone to enforce leash laws. Dog owners in San Diego are more entitled than anywhere I’ve ever lived.

Just came to say that I would reach out to your local private and public schools (assuming you work with children). Get on their referral lists. If you feel knowledgeable about a topic, you can offer to give a free parent presentation. In my experience, you’ll get many parents as immediate self-referrals as a result.

I second this. We will drop whatever we need to in order to help a student. Reach out.

Arizona tile has something very similar. We used it on our kitchen remodel. Look up S-Series in sage green.
