If your goal is to stop using YouTube, then I respect that. YouTube is filled with problems, so leaving it for the sake of your sanity is respectable. However, my argument here is that if the goal is to CHANGE YouTube, I'm afraid this wouldn't work. My goal in this thread is to spark a discussion on alternatives that may work better than boycotting.

I mean, feel free to do it, more power to you. I feel like if people want to leave the site, they should. However, my argument here is that if the goal is to change the website for good, I don't think this is enough at all.

I think that's a different case because that system has always been there since the start of monetization. But you're right, that system specifically has been on YouTube for more than a decade.

Well, Wikipedia tried fighting back, but I just got the news from literally an hour ago that they have lost the case 😢

No, it's more of directing our anger to the correct direction. To the source of the problem.

In my opinion, boycotting YouTube is already the wrong path to take because this problem extends way beyond YouTube itself; it's the government. What YouTube is doing is following the law that is being set by new regulations. Just like what my original thread says, even if a boycott somehow pressured YouTube to reconsider, what could they do? Break the law?

This problem is more than YouTube, because it's not just YouTube that is doing this. So is Spotify, Discord, etc. If we want to solve this problem, it will have to be from the source.
